Meeting the FAM (Pt. 1)

I woke up to whipped cream all over my face and my hand in a bucket of warm water. Was I expecting it? No. But I was expecting a prank none the less.

The whip cream and bucket of water wasn't the only thing that has Stoll written all over it, there was literally a card that said 'Get up lazy bones, we have to leave. - The Stolls'

They left a note, how considerate.

After getting ready I met the two out by the camp border. We all get in the red truck. Well, at least I do. Connor and Travis are too busy fighting over who gets to drive and who rides in the back (boys, am I right?). Eventually it was decided that Travis would drive and Connor would ride in the back.

After everyone got settled in, we hit the road.
"Alrighty Katie, we have about a five hour drive there. Any music you prefer to listen to?" Travis asked. I was about to answer with 'whatever you guys like' when Connor whispered "Travis the gentleman. Guess that's something new." He probably though no one would hear but we did. A faint pink colored crept onto his cheeks and ear. Not that I was looking at him or anything... (Shh... Don't tell anyone.)

I don't remember much after that, being as I fell sleep the rest of the way. Big mistake because that gave Connor the right to doodle on my face with a marker when we stopped at a gas station. Of I course I didn't know until we got to the Stoll residence. Let me give you the scene that took place:

When we pulled into the driveway Travis shook me to wake me up (Connor tried to convince him to just leave me in the car but no, I guess Travis was still trying to be a gentleman and decided to get me up). When I got out of the truck Mrs. Stoll was there, waiting for us with her face lit with excitement.

Right when I turned to face her, she went livid. She went off at the boys saying how it was 'unacceptable to pull pranks on guests' and how they 'shouldn't scare off a pretty girl' (I didn't think I was that pretty, let alone pretty covered in marker but I guess she does). I scurried back to check myself in the car mirror and instantly got mad at the two. They nerve they had! I guess Travis wasn't really living up to his new 'gentleman' act.

"It's okay Katie. It's washable, my mom never let's me have Sharpies for this reason. Travis can get your bags while you clean up in the bathroom." Connor shamefully said, looking down at his feet, to scared to make contact with his mom. His mom was trying to look serious at him but couldn't help herself from letting a smile slip into her face. Goodness gracious this family.

"Here Katie, I'll show you where the bathroom is and where your room will be." The boys' mother said, giving me a kind smile. I returned it and followed her into the small house.

Mrs. Stoll directed me towards a small room in a hallway right by the kitchen. "I know it's not much but I hope you'll like it. It's not everyday one of the boys bring home a guest. Let alone a girl." She chuckled at her last comment. She explained when I gave her a confused look, "Based on what they did to you in the car and their stories of their pranks, I assume they don't have too many people who favor them, let alone date them." A slight blush crept onto my cheeks. Stop it! You're not actually dating him... Oh whatever.

"Anyways, next to your room is the bathroom and right across from you is the boys' room. Mine is just down the hall. I guess I'll let you to it." And that was that.

I headed into that bathroom and found a washcloth in the cabinet above the sink (it was one of those cool ones with the mirror on the outside and a cabinet on the inside. Very cool). It only took about a minute or two to wash off the marker (thank gods it was a washable marker or I would've killed Connor).

After I cleaned up I noticed a picture taped to the mirror, it was of Mrs. Stoll, little boy Travis, baby Connor, and a man who I assume is Hermes. They were all smiling, Travis in his mom's arms and Connor in Hermes. I wonder if Mrs. Stoll missed Hermes, or if Hermes missed her.

A knock on the door took me away from my thoughts.
"Hey Katie it me Travis. I, um, just wanted to let you know that your suitcase is in your room. I hope I didn't disturb you doing anything..."

I opened the door. "It's fine Travis, I wasn't going to the bathroom, I was just washing off the marker." I said, giving him a slight glare.

"Oh yeah. Sorry about that. Um, Connor wanted to let out his shenanigans before coming home. My mom only tolerates so many pranks..." Travis stated, scratching his neck nervously.

"Oh, uh. Haha? I'm just gonna go..." I said, motioning towards my temporary bedroom. "Oh yeah! Erm, sorry about that. Uh, I'll just let you go..." "Yeah thanks..." And with that I awkwardly walked to my room.

Yep. That's how you talk to people of the opposite gender: awkwardly.

This was going to be a great Thanksgiving if I keep acting like this...
