Cry's p.o.v:
I stand in the alleyway outside the sewer where I live with Ellie. Ellie's a fifteen year old girl who I've lived with for three years, from the beginning of the war to the two year point of peace that we've been living in. I live with Ellie and Sean, who used to be known as Jacksepticeye. I'm twenty nine and Jack's twenty eight, which means we're getting old and can't move as fast as we used to. Ellie says we're just being ridiculous. Maybe she's right. I mean twenty nine isn't that old right?
Even if it's not, Ellie gets most of the food now. It kind of sucks because she refuses to leave during the day, so we go hungry for twelve hours. It's totally worth it though because she always brings back a feast. Well, what can be considered a feast for three hoodlums anyways. She's good nonetheless.
The war only lasted a year. Now, the three of us were never on anybody's "side" or whatever, but we got pretty excited when the Rebels won. The reason's pretty simple. It was lead by Youtubers! VanossGaming, IAMWILDCAT, Moo Snuckel, Mini Ladd and H2O Delirious. They took over the castle and have been living in it for the past two years. Sean and I have been planning to set out there to see if they'll let us stay with them. Ellie's been harder to convince. "I'm not a youtuber," Ellie keeps saying. "Yes I was a subscriber of all of them, and their friends, but that doesn't mean they'll let me stay in the castle. It'll be better if you just leave me to life on the streets." Then we have to tell her that she's family and we don't go anywhere without her.
Ellie sighs into the cold winter air. "I gotta say Cry," she says, "even though it's nice having peace, it's not gonna last." I look over at her.
"What do you mean," I ask. "What makes you so sure?"
"I've just this vibe man. Nothing good sticks around for long. Somethin' tells me this is all gonna come crashin' down awful fast." I freeze. Usually when Ellie gets a vibe, it's not wrong. It's like she can predict the future. "It's just instinct," she always tells me. "Nothin' special, just somethin' ya learn when ya run around the town with a gang. You gotta know when somethin' bad's gonna happen or ya pals be gettin' killed left and right, and I ain't gonna lose you an' Sean, not a chance."
I see a hand wave in front of my face through the tiny holes in my mask, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Cry," Ellie asked, "y'all right?" I nod and take a deep breath.
"Yeah," I say. "Fine." I raise my eyebrow as I spot a large group of people walking through a field on the other side of town. No, not walking, marching. They're dressed in Loyalist uniforms and are carrying loaded  ACRs. I realize with fear that they're marching towards the castle where Vanoss and his friends preside.
"Cry," Ellie says, "sewer. Now." We race for the sewer opening. As I begin climbing down the ladder, someone from the Loyalist army races over and begins dragging Ellie away. I go and try to save her, but Ellie kicks me back. "No Cry," she calls out. "Grab Sean and take the map I have stored under the matress. It'll have an underground passage showing you how to get to. . .um. . .you know. . .Point C." My eyes widen. Point C is what we nicknamed the Rebel overthrown castle in case anyone ever caught us in our plans to get there. I look up at Ellie. Her eyes are pleading. "Get there Cry! For me!" The soldier then hits her in the head with the butt of his gun, knocking her out. I frantically climb down the sewer ladder, pulling the man hole cover over it as I make my leave.
Sean bolts up from where he's lying down on the matress as I race in. "Cry," he asks, "Where's Ellie?" I don't answer, just throw him off of the matress and dig around for the map we hid. "Cry!," Sean demands. Still digging, I pour out the story of what happened outside. "What! We have to go get her!"
"It's to late," I call out as Sean races to the ladder leading to the surface. "They already got her. But we have to get to the castle now, for Ellie."
"What if she dies!" Sean screams. I finally find the map and stand. I look over at Sean.
"Oh come on you know Ellie's not gonna go down that easy. If I know Ellie at all, which I do, she's gonna find some way of telling the Rebels she's on their side and'll meet us at the castle. Now come on." With that, I unroll the map. A path through the sewer tunnels is traced out in a rusty reddish color. I gag as I realize that the path is marked in blood. Shaking off the feeling of nausea and curiosity as to where Ellie got the blood, I lead Sean down the first tunnel.
"Man," Sean says behind me, "Google Maps would really come in handy right now." I roll my eyes and pull out my lighter, studying the map the best I can in the dim light of it's flame. Hold on Ellie, I think, you're brothers are coming.
