Oh lord where do I even start... The day that I met Peanut was about a few years ago at swim practice. I believe it was my second year on my school's team. I walked into the pool area and went into the locker rooms to change into my suit and grab my cap and goggles before heading back out on the pool deck to stretch before practice. I set my cap and goggles on the bench before scanning my eyes across the swimmers also stretching looking for someone else to socialize with. My eyes land on this one girl who I had only seen a few times at practice before. I decided to go talk to her and have a real conversation. I walked over to her and we started to talk.

We soon found out that my brother and her twin sisters were both two grades below us and that they actually knew each other because my brother was apparently "dating" one of her sisters. Of course it wasn't real dating because they were like in the fourth grade or something but they were dating nonetheless. We both found this funny that our siblings had a better love life than we did and it was something we bonded over.

We also looked quite alike. We both had light blue eyes, long light brown hair, and freckles. Pretty much the only difference between us was the fact that Peanut was a few inches shorter than me. Other than that we look like twins. That is still one of our inside jokes today actually. We say we were separated at birth and we call each other sisters hence the name of the book Sisters By Choice.

We ended up talking with each other almost every time we had a break during our practice. We made each other laugh and we made the strenuous swim practices much more bearable for each other. We shared a lane with a few other people every day and we became the best of friends very quickly. We just seemed to have this connection. I felt like she was the sister I never had and to be honest, it still feels like she is.

I am so grateful that I have a friend like Peanut because she is my sister from another mister and she gets me through life. I don't know what I would without her so thank god she is in my life. She means the world to me.
