Day 1:
I sat at my desk with a pile of paper and three pencils sitting in front of me. Luke was lounged across my bed with the guitar he'd brought over and a bag of crisps beside him. I glanced back at him and he smiled, strumming lightly on his guitar. I closed my eyes, letting his soft strumming guide me. At the end of the day, I had half a page of random lyrics that weren't in any specific order. I set my pencil down and ran my hands through my hair.

"I'm a failure" I sighed. Luke touched my shoulders gently with each hand.

"Good things take time." He assured. I frowned

"The Madden brothers can write a song in a day" I mumbled. Luke sighed

"You aren't the Madden brothers. You're just one guy and you've never written a song before. Don't give up on this."

"I won't."

Day 2:
I sat back at my desk, Luke assuming his same position on the bed as he had the day before. I looked at my page of miscellaneous lyrics and frowned. Absolutely none of them were as good as they'd been the day before. I shook my head, crumpled up the paper and started over.

Half way through I took a snack break and sat on the edge of the bed with Luke.

"Can I see what you've written so far?" He asked. I shook my head quickly.

"Absolutely not! Not until its done!" I exclaimed. He put his hands up in deffence and laughed

"Okay okay it was just a question." He said. I couldn't help but to smile. He was kind of cute.

I went back to work, and by the end of the day, I'd gotten about as far as the day before. No where.

"How'd it go?" Luke asked. I frowned.

"Same as yesterday."

He said the same thing as before

"Don't give up Ashton. You can do this."

"I won't"

Day 3:
I gave up.

When Luke arrived at my house that day I was laying on my livingroom floor in dismay. Sure it had only been two days, but I'd gotten no where at all. I'd looked back at the lyrics and hated them even more than the first days lyrics. Luke stood over me, raising an eyebrow.

"What are you doing on the floor?" He asked. I said nothing, staring into space. He shook his head, walking away. When he returned, he dumped a bit of water on my face, making me jump up.

"What the fuck?"

"I asked you a question and you didn't answer" he said with a shrug. I narrowed my eyes.

"You're dead, Hemmings" I hissed. His smile faded slowly and his eyes grew wide.

"I-" before he could say anymore I was after him. He shrieked and took off into the kitchen. I chased after him and tackled him to the floor, sitting on his chest and pinning him down. The air between us changed and suddenly all I could think of was his raised breathing and the way he looked stuck underneath me. Before I knew what I was doing, my face was almost touching his. Hie eyes were closed. I snapped out of it and wiped my wet face across his before standing up.

"Don't do that again" I said awkwardly. He stood as well, cheeks burning red.

"I-I won't" I didn't write that day.

Day 9:
I was lounged across my couch when Luke showed up. He sighed and shook his head.

"What are you doing?" I shrugged.

"Sitting."

"Are you going to write today?" I wrinkled my nose

"I don't think I want to write a song anymore." I said. Luke frowned amd yanked me off the couch.

"Come on." He commanded. I stumbled after him.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Put some shoes on." I obeyed and slipped on my sneakers. I was in a worn out Guns n Roses shirt and some sweat pants but Luke didn't seem to care.

"Can't I at least get dressed?" I fretted. Luke rolled his eyes

"You don't need to don't worry about it." He said. I frowned but followed him anyway. He lead me to a park and nudged me so I was sitting on a bench.

"What are we doing here?" I asked. He set a notebook and pen in my hands.

"Look around. Look at the people here. Observe them and the emotion they convey. Absorb them" he instructed. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"You're mad." I mumbled. He punched my shoulder lightly

"Shut up and do it" he commanded. I did as told and observed the people of the park.

I started writing that day.

Day 13:
I'd gotten the first verse of my very first song written finally. It was like a miracle or something that I'd actually written something that didn't drive me bonkers. Luke sat beside me at my desk, watching as I tapped my pencil in the desk.

"The first verse is so perfect I don't wanna write something stupid to go with it" I complained. Luke rubbed my back soothingly.

"Its alright. I know you can do it." He murmered sweetly. Luke and I had gotten much closer since I'd started writting the song. And honestly I wasn't sure if I ever wanted to finish it. I didn't ever want Luke to stop paying attention to me.

Day 15:
The lyrics were coming easier and easier to me and within the two days I had a chorus mapped out and edited to perfection. Or as perfect as I could make it.

Luke was sitting on the bed when I jumped up and cheered for myself. He stood as well smiling.

"What what is it?" He asked excitedly.

"I wrote the chorus!" I shouted. Luke took my hands in his and we proceeded jumping up and down in excitement.

"See I knew you could do it!" He exclaimed. I giggled and threw my arms around his neck.

"Thank you Luke."

"You're welcome Ashton."

Day 17:
I wrote a bridge to die for

Day 18:
I wrote what I thought was a third verse.

Day 19:
I switched the first and third verses

Day 20:
I wrote the missing second verse.

Day 21:
I finished the song. Luke kissed me, and I kissed Luke.
