One year ago...

It was late August when four boys were walking in the park. One was wondering why he was over eighteen and still hadn't met his mate, one was admiring the new flower crown he'd made, another was internally yelling at himself for missing that goal at his last football game, and the last was simply deciding what colour he would dye his hair next. They were all lost in thought when they suddenly crashed into each other, knocking all four to the ground. They looked up and everything suddenly went hazy that wasn't the other three boys.

"I'm so sorry." The one with dyed hair spoke.

"Me too, I wasn't paying attention to what was in front of me." The one with the flower crown apologised.

"None of us were. It's okay." The one with dark hair said. "I'm Calum."

"Luke." The flower boy smiled as he stood up and dusted of his leggings.

"I'm Michael." The boys with lilac hair smiled, standing up at the same time as Calum, who held a hand out for the curly haired boy who had yet to speak.

The three waited expectantly but all the boy did was look up at them dreamily, his eyes suddenly widening as he shot up, a huge grin on his face. The other boys were confused at his sudden happiness. The boy held out his wrist.

"Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, and Michael Clifford. I'm Ashton Irwin." He blurted.

The boys furrowed their eyebrows when Luke suddenly realised what he was talking about. He quickly looked at his own wrist where the names Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, and Ashton Irwin were written out in swirly handwriting. He lunged at Ashton who gladly wrapped his arms around his tiny waist. Michael and Calum watched, still confused.

"I found you! We found each other!" Luke exclaimed happily as Ashton peppered his face with kisses.

"What are you two on about?" Calum questioned.

"Look at your wrists." Ashton said.

The pair did as told before realising. They instantly joined Ashton and Luke's hug.

"Holy shit I thought I would never find you. I'm already 18, turning 19 soon!" Michael cried.

"Yeah, tell me about it, I'm 20. Oh yeah, I presented as an alpha last year." Ashton explained.

"Well I presented as omega last month." Michael smiled.

"I just turned eighteen in July." Luke mumbled into Ashton's shoulder where his face was nuzzled.

"I turned eighteen in January. Haven't presented yet." Calum spoke.

"Awww, Lukey's the baby." Michael cooed.

"Stop it." Luke giggled.

"This is kinda weird." Calum spoke. "We just met and we're acting like we've known each other for years."

"I guess that's what it's like when you find your mates." Ashton chuckled.

Present Day...

"Guys, guess what!" Ashton grinned as he ran downstairs.

Luke and Michael had previously been sitting on the sofa watching reruns of Two Broke Girls on TV while eating the blueberry pancakes they had made for breakfast.

"What?" Michael asked.

"Calum's in rut, he's an alpha!" Ashton exclaimed.

"That's great! I'll go help him out in a sec, lemme finish my food." Michael spoke.

(Some of the things talked about next could be triggering)

Luke put a small, fake, smile on. He figured out when they first met that he'd probably be a beta. Everyone always said he would be despite his feminine demeanour and choice of clothing. It was no secret that betas were normally pushed aside and ignored, a lot of times they were rejected by their mate which made the beta go through an immensely painful process of shock that normally led to them committing suicide so they wouldn't have to live the rest of their lives as a shell of their former selves.

Luke didn't want that but he figured it would happen. If they rejected him he would understand and off himself right away just to avoid the pain. His brother's best friend was a beta and got rejected. He spent two years going through shock before he finally had enough, he overdosed at the age of 20.

Luke watched as Ashton plopped down in Michael's place after the colourful haired boy had left. Ashton motioned for the to come over but Luke shook his head.

"I'm gonna go for a jog. Be back by lunch." He smiled, standing up.

He placed his plate in the kitchen and went upstairs to change. They all had their own rooms and one big room, where Calum and Michael were, just so they could have some privacy. He ignored the moans coming from their closed bedroom door and scurried off into his own room. He quite liked his room. It had a white carpet floor, lilac walls, a full sized bed with lilac and baby pink sheets, he had a white desk with a cushy, pink wheely chair (that's what we call them at my school idk), a variety of stuffed animals that were scattered around the room, a white dresser, and a big, spacious closet.

He picked out a pair of black leggings from PINK and a fitted, white crop top. He slipped those on along with his Nike running shoes before slipping back downstairs phone in hand.

"If you're not back by noon I'm coming to find you." Ashton stated as Luke made his way to the door.

"Alright, babe. Love you!" He called before walking outside.
