--"Parker Jordyn Evans, get your butt in here right now!"
"I'm coming dad, chill!"
My parents are currently trying to take me out for my late birthday dinner by yelling at me. Walking out of my room and down the hall, I can here my dad's whispers. "Did he just tell me to chill? I am chill. Stop laughing Cynthia, I'm chill!"
I walk out into the living room with my mom patting my father's shoulder. "Okay, honey. Let's go." My mom was shaking her head in amusement shooing us all out the door.
"Oh goodness." I grunt when I feel something fly full speed at my gut. "Parker, would you pretty pretty please with skittles on top, carry me to the car? I don't wanna fall." Lily asks with her bright green eyes looking up at me.
"Yes, fine. Just please let me breathe." I wheezed out. "Yay! C'mon!" She releases me and runs to the couch and jumps up waiting for me to let her hop on my back. Sighing I walk over and turn around.
Once I have her situated and my arms hooked around her legs, we all head out to the car. "Mind loosening up around my throat Lily pad?" Lily doesn't seem to ever realize how painful her grips are.
"Oops, sorry." She apologizes through a giggle. I chuckle, stopping at the backseat, left car door. My parents rush me and now they're dilly dallying on the porch. "Hurry up and unlock the car, it's cold daddy!" Lily just shouts. Right next to my ear.
"Geez Lily pad, maybe you should be louder. Don't think they heard ya." I retort. "Hur-"
"No! It was sarcasm Lily!" I cut off my little sister before she can give any more damage to my eardrums. "Oh. What's that mean?"
My parents were finally at the car with the doors unlocked. Opening the door, I slide Lily off my back and into the car. Getting into my seat and closing the door, I can feel the heater doing its job right. Buckling our seat belts, I answer her question. "Sarcasm is when you say the opposite of what you mean. Like irony to mock or convey contempt."
"Uh."
"Never mind Lily." I sigh, shaking my head.

Pulling up to the restaurant, I pull out my ear phones and roll them up, sticking them into my pocket. Once we've parked, we unbuckle our seat belts and clamber out. "Mommy, I want a chocolate milk. Do they have chocolate milk?"
While Lily and my mom talk back and forth up until we are inside, I excuse myself to the bathroom. "I have to go too, it's this way." My dad moves from behind me to point and walk in the direction of his finger. Following him and once we've both finished our business, he asks me a question while washing our hands.
"So, how've you been? Are you okay?"
I don't really know how to answer this question honestly. "Uh yeah, I'm good. I'm fine." I say avoiding his eyes and turning the faucet off. Grabbing a few paper towels and drying my hands, I toss them in the waste bin, waiting for my dad.
Once my dad joins me we both walk out looking for our table. "You know that you can talk to me, Jordyn. I'll listen." My dad prefers to call me by my middle name. He thought it was weird saying Parker because I was named after him. "I know dad. I'm fine, lets talk later."
My dad claps my back with a firm hand and a small nod. Finding our table, mom is playing tic tac toe with Lily on her activity menu. My dad and I sit down and skim through the menu. After a while we have already ordered our drinks and meal, waiting for it to be served.
"Honey, your father and I would like to give you your birthday gift." My mother is beaming at me with a huge smile. Glancing over at my dad, it looks like he's trying to hold back a smile and laugh. "Okay." I say slowly and confused as to why they're being weirder than normal.
