Melanie's POV
Mom took me out into the woods the other night for my gun target practice. I forgot how much I missed being able to do this.
But now I am in class with Allison. Scott comes in and was gonna try and sit next to her but he says me here. I smirk. When he tried to sit behind her, Lydia showed up. I smirk at him.
"Try another row, sweetheart." She says to him. He sit's in the seat beside her.
"Okay, class, let's settle down. Let's get our books out." The teacher says. I take out my book when I hear Scott start talking to Allison.
"Allison." He whispers to her.
"Hey. Class is beginning." She says to him.
"I know. I'll shut up. I just, um - I have some stuff on my phone that I wanted to send you. I thought you might like it." Scott says.
"Okay." Allison says. I see her start looking at her phone, with tears in her eyes.
"All right, I'd like to return to our discussion from yesterday with a more in - depth analysis of Iago and the way in which he preyed upon Othello's jealousies." The teacher says right before Allison grabs her stuff and rushes out of the room, crying. Scott soon follows her. I look at Lydia, she shrugs. "We seem to have some here today." The teacher comments. I roll my eyes and grab my stuff and rush out of the room following the other two who left before me.
"Allison." I hear Scott say. I see them down the hall. I hide behind a corner.
"Why did you send me those? Are you trying to make me feel even worse for breaking up with you?" She asks him. What did he do now?
"No. I thought you would like them. I - I thought they would remind you of us." Scott says.
"Are you trying to hurt me - Get back at me?" She asks tears falling down her face.
"No." He says. He goes to say something else but she cuts him off.
"Please don't talk to me. Okay? I need more time to get to just friends. Okay? Please." She says then leaves him alone, well besides me, in the hall. I walk over to where he is.
"I don't know what you did. But that did not help at all with your chances of getting back with her." I say then rush after my cousin. Who I found in the bathroom crying.
Lunch was boring, I stayed with Lydia during our free period. After that I am now walking down the hall, to my locker when I see Lydia and Jackson talking.
"Jackson! This little text - not funny!" She says holding her phone up.
"No, I wasn't trying to be funny. I would have put a "ha ha" at the end of it. And, see, there's no "ha ha."" He says.
She starts reading the text. ""Lydia, please give back my spare house key at your earliest convenience - As we are no longer dating"?" She read. My jaw drops. He broke up with her through text?!
"You didn't lose it, did you?" He asks.
"What the hell is this?" She asks him, clearly upset, but trying to mask it.
"Well, Lydia, in preparation for some big changes, I've decided to drop some of the dead weight in my life. And you're just about the deadest." Jackson says. My eyes widen. What?
"Are you breaking up with me?" She asks him.
"Dumping, actually. I'm dumping you." Jackson says.
"Dumped by the co - captain of the lacrosse team. I wonder how many minutes it'll take me to get over that. Wait, seconds, actually. Seconds!" She says then walks away from him. She's trying to hide how she feels. I walk over to my best friends, now ex-boyfriend. He's at his locker.
