Melanie's POV
So I have been at the hospital all weekend. After what happened with Lydia almost dying and mom d- gone, I had to stay away from the house for a few days, so I have been staying in a very uncomfortable chair in the waiting room. Stiles didn't want me to be alone so he has stayed to. Sheriff has been trying to ask minimum questions about mom and the murders. They blamed her for all of them, like how Scott and Stiles did when we were trapped in the high school, running from the Alpha. Allison wasn't mad about me knowing she knew I was trying to protect her and Scott. She also has been hiding her relationship with Scott. Uncle Chris and aunt Victoria don't want her dating him.
Stiles is asleep on the chair, next to me. He keeps mumbling in his sleep but I wasn't focused on that. I was looking at my phone, looking at picture's of me and mom. I know what she did was wrong, it's just she was my mother and now she's gone.
"They have been here all night." I hear Lydia's dad say about me and Stiles.
"They've been here all weekend. Lydia is her best friend and Stiles is Melanie's boyfriend." I hear Melissa say. Me and Stiles aren't dating but I'm not going to correct her.
I notice a nurse getting the trash bag fro the bin that's next to Stiles. "Dirty." I hear him mumble. The nurse looks at him like he's crazy then leaves. He keeps mumbling things. "You're dirty." I hear him say. I roll my eyes letting him sleep until I hear my name come from his mouth. "Melanie, you're di-" I cut him off by putting my hand over his mouth, trying to shut him up.
"Stiles. Wake up." He doesn't. "Stiles!" I yell. He jumps and falls off the chair. He looks around, alarmed.
"What? What's wrong?" He asks.
"You were talking in your sleep. have a nice dream?" I ask him, sending him a playful wink. "Come on, I'm hungry." I say. I reach my hand down to help him off the floor. He takes my hand and I help him up. We start walking to the vending machine, when I realized that he is still holding my hand in his. I look at him. He must have felt my gaze because he looks over at me. I give him a small smile. I stop at the vending machine pulling out a dollar in quarters from my purse. I put them in and hit the numbers for the Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. It falls down into the slot where you can grab it. I smile and grab it. I open it and take out one, I take a bite and offer the other one to Stiles. He shakes his head and takes out his own money and puts it into the machine. He tries and gets the same as I got.
"Paging Dr. Stateman. Dr. Stateman, please." Someone on the intercom says. By now Stiles is like shaking the vending machine.
"Seriously? Come - " He starts.
"Stiles, just take this one." I say and gesture to the second one in my hand.
"No. Mel, I can get it." He says and shakes the vending machine. "Just - Gah! It's not gonna work." He says. It starts tipping, he pulls me to him as it falls. "Whoa!" I look up at him and laughs.
He looks down at me, I notice that I was still holding onto his arm. I blush and smile a little. He smiles and leans down I go to connect my lips to his but a scream stops me. I know that scream.
"Lydia?" I run down the hall with Stiles following. "Lydia!" I say as I get to her room. I hear the shower running. "Lydia?" I ask as I go in. I get no response so I open the shower curtain, revealing no one behind it.
"What the hell was that?" Melissa asks rushing in here with Lydia's *Jackass* father.
"Lydia?" I whisper looking out of the window.
"Naked? As in nude?" The Sheriff, Stiles' dad, asks Melissa.
"I'm pretty sure they mean the same thing, but, yes, as far as we know, she left here clothing - optional." Melissa replies.
