Up On The Hill

That night as I made my way to the musicians on the hill. I contemplated telling Brian who I was.

He was already there, and he was smiling, actually smiling. I mean, I stopped in the shadows just to watch him. He seemed so...put together. He hadn't smiled like that since..1962, since their first gig at the Marquee.

I sat down quietly beside him and his smile grew.

"Ah hello Katie!"

What?!

Oh, oh right, he'd asked if he could call me that.

"H-hello, Brian"

"I just wanted to say, before we start, thank you, for letting me call you Katie"

I smiled underneath the fabric and tilted my head towards him. "Well, I been watching these..Master Musicians for um, about a year now"

"Oh, a...year?"

"Yes"

I've decided to leave little hints, to see if he would catch on. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't, I'd have to just watch and see.

I started telling him about anything I knew about music and he nodded thoughtfully.

"Hey, what kind of music do you like Katie?"

"Oh. I like, r-rock and roll"

I paused,

"And blues"

"Hey! Me too!"

"I. Like Muddy Waters and Chuck B-Berry"

He smiled and said

"I like those artists too you know"

He turned his head toward the musicians and mumbled something.

"What is it?" I asked

"It's just, you remind me so much of this girl from England"

His eyes roamed to the sky before returning to me.

"Will, will you remove your headpiece?"

Should I? I mean, he liked me, what's the use?

"I-"

"Brian! There you are honey!"

Anita, my first glance at the girl who stole Brian's heart. I narrowed my eyes.

"Kaitlyn, here is my girlfriend; Anita"

He said softly, under his breath.

She had blond hair and bangs, like Brian, and a big smile.

I can't really say I liked her.

"Hello Anita"

I whispered.

Anita grabbed Brian's hand and I moved away. Brian didn't miss me, what were Mick and Keith talking about?

"Goodbye" I said in a small voice, accent gone, to Brian.

I stood up slowly and started to walk off, when I looked back, they just looked like two lovers in the sunset.

When I was far away from the hill, I walked slowly around the town.

"Hey, Katie? Is Brian with you?"

"Ya, it's me Mick, and no Brian isn't with me"

I dropped the accent as I maneuvered my way to the brown haired rockstar.

His smile dropped when he saw me, I just couldn't try to be happy anymore..

"Here, Katie, come with me, lets get out of the lights"

He grabbed my hand and led me through the noise of the partying streets. We made our way to his hotel and I removed my headpiece, just as the tears came.

"Hey, Katie"

He sat down beside me,

"What's up?"

He was speaking so softly.

"I-Brian doesn't miss me, I love Brian, but he doesn't love me"

"You don't know that"

He looked at the ground and I leaned into his shoulder, he put his hand around my shoulders in care.

"He's crazy for you, he just, can't decide things easily"

I wiped a tear from my cheek,

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah"

"B-but he loves Anita, I saw, up on the hill"

He rubbed my back,

"They have fights, you know, and I heard Marianne tell me Anita was thinking"

He stopped and I looked up at him,

"What? What was she thinking?"

He took a breath,

"Anita was thinking, of going with Keith instead"

"Oh"

That's weird, they looked very much in love. And Mick has a girlfriend? Hm.

A crash from down the hall woke me. I looked up and found that Mick had fallen from his sitting position, and that I'd fallen onto his chest. I got up quietly, so as not to wake Mick and walked out to the hall, holding my headpiece in my hand. Vaguely, I heard some arguing and wondered who it was that was arguing. People shouldn't argue, peace is what we need.

I walked along the line of shadows as the two arguers made there way down the hall. It was so late, I didn't see anybody else around.

I saw their identities, Brian and Anita. My eyes widened and I made my way back to Mick's room quickly, although I did wonder a bit where Marianne was.
