Brian's POV:

I was lying on a bed. An empty room. Katie's room, above the coffee shop. It was completely deserted now. All her stuff was gone.

It was like she wasn't even there.

What if Katie was just someone that I'd imagined in my head the whole time? An imaginary 'friend'. But how can that be if Mick and Keith and everyone saw her? I miss her. Where did she go? I want to go with her.

'Goodbye Ruby Tuesday

Who could hang a name on you?

When you change with every new day

Still I'm going to miss you'

I'd written that for Katie, last year, with Keith. When we release it in January, she might hear it. I hope she will. I patted the bare mattress and turned around. The springs squealed in protest as I sat up. I walked down the stairs slowly and made it to the coffee shop part of the building.

Who would take her spot now? Now that she's gone again.

I better get back, but then again, who would notice?

I walked along the empty streets with my head down as it started to rain. It was a chilly rain and I crossed my arms over my black shirt. Blew out a long breath.

The hotel was deserted too, so, I walked up to my room and turned the key in the lock. Anita was gone. Keith was gone. Mick and Marianne too.

I stumbled around and ended up grabbing a piece of bread and nibbling on it. It was the first thing I'd eaten since my date with Katie two days ago.

And it was stale.

"Wake up!"

"Come on!"

Huh? Someone was pushing me and it felt like I was rolling. Suddenly, I was on the ground, ow! I opened my eyes and peered up at the pusher. Nobody was there, so I sat up. Keith and Anita were sitting on the couch looking at a brochure. I walked over and rubbed my eyes.

Three days now.

"Brian? Don't you remember?" Anita looked up before looking at Keith, who was reading a brochure that said 'TOURS HERE!' on the front.

I moved over and sat down beside Keith, peered at the piece of paper.

That's right! Back when we'd first arrived here, Anita had planned a wilderness tour thing that was for couples.

"You don't mind if Keith tags along right? Good."

She didn't even wait for an answer, so, I guess Keith was coming along.

"It says it starts in ten minutes" I mumble and Anita snatches the brochure, looks down at the times.

"Shit! You're right! Lets go!"

They both stood up and Keith dragged me from the couch to the door. I was wearing the same thing I'd worn yesterday, so I didn't need to change.

"Right, then" Keith started, "where is this?"

"Um, down by that hill, that's where it starts I think" Anita answered and we burst out the door running. I tried my best to look interested but to be honest, I didn't really love Anita anymore. She was just some girl to me now.

"Ok everyone!"

We'd just gotten on the last van. And it was just the three of us.

"Ooh, look at that!" Anita exclaimed and Keith looked out her window. I rolled my eyes and leaned against the frame of the doorway, wanting to be somewhere else.
