It was Thursday morning, the day after my birthday. The dream that I had last night still creeped me out. I looked at my alarm clock. It read 7:00. I decided to get up. I got ready for school. I'm glad that today I woke up early so that yesterday did not end up like yesterday. I did all the things that I needed to do before school. I was five minutes early for my bus stop.

School is where the craziness happened. We pulled up to Alexander Middle School. Nothing looked different about it. First half of the day, everything is normal. At lunch I started hearing those voices that I had in my dream.

"Who's there?" I asked.

The people sitting next to me looked confused. On of my friends said "If you're hearing stuff, you should go to the nurse."

I was still trying to figure out what happened at lunch when I immediately saw what appeared to be a king. Then he was gone.I almost fainted.

I got home from school to find it the house empty. Well, almost empty.

"Mom and Dad went out shopping and to drive grandpa to the airport. What do you want to do?"said my liitle sister.

"I don't know"I responded.

"Hey let's play chess, and as a matter of fact you got one for your birthday."she said.

I was about to decline, but I didn't know what else to do and I had no homework so I said "sure."

She went and got my chess set. We set it up like you normaly would. She was (always) white so she went first.

Mid-game. Pieces were all over the board. I was racking my brain to see if I could do a good move.

"I got your pawn!" say said excitedly as if she won the powerball.

I moved my bishop and took her rook.

"Darn it" she said.

While she thought of her next move, she taped the pawn with her fingers. For some strange reason, it sounded hollow.

Then my cat meowed. She scared my sister and she flung the piece into the air. It came down and hit the floor. The bottem broke off.

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I yelled out of pure rage! I was especialy angry because it was grandpa's.

"Wait!" she said and pointed at the pawn.

I looked down at the pawn.Rage turned to curriosity. There was a strange piece of paper sitting on the pawn. My sister picked up the paper.

"What does it say"I asked.

"Remember how you always wanted to go on an adventure?" she asked.

"Yea" I responded.

"Well, here"s your chance."she said. Then she showed me the paper.
