The Chessplayer

Chapter 4

Going through a portal was nothing I have ever experienced. It felt like all the energy was being drained out of me. I felt like I was going done a colorful tube. Then it ended and I fell flat on my face. Where we landed seemed like some forest.

"Get up bozo." My sister said and helped me up. She didn't seem tired at all. "We are not alone.

"Greetings travelers" said an old man in a cloak.

"Where are we" I asked.

"So...you are travelers, welcome, to Croatia "he said in a voice the creeped me out. The old man looked at me and muttered something. The light started appearing all over us.

The man looked awed. "You ...you are the saviors the profits told of."

I was too confused. "What are you talking about"I asked.

 "It is none of your concern!" he snapped at us.

  "Oh yes it is!" my sister stepped in.

  "At least not now." he said with a sudden drop in tone.

  "CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON!?!" I screamed. Thoughts were swirling in my head. I was confused, scared, and angry.

  "Your name is Trenoug,right"? was what I thought my sister said softly. The old man stared at my sister for a second. I didn't hear because I was screaming.

  "My name is Trenoug. You are the ones destined to save us. The scroll in the pawn explains it all." he said pointing to the chess set. For us to know to know if it was true." he said.

  "I want to go home! Where is the portal to go home." I said looking around but not finding it."

  "It is gone. When you exited it, it disappeared behind you." he said mournfully. I was very upset. "But you have a chance, if you comlete the task I am about to give you. You must travle north-east of here, until you reach an alter, then you know what to do"

  "Anything to get us home!" I said.

  "You may begin" he said and disapeared right in front of our eyes! In his place were two packs.

  "For us to have a chance at getting home, let's do it!" my sister said.

  Maybe she was right, I went and picked up my pack.
