A quiet morning met me when I woke. Still full from last nights hunt, I sat and watched as my family started to wake up.
It was in the end of fall, and the frost covered ground shone brightly as the sun landed on it. Yesterdays kill sat a ways away, frost keeping it from stinking and flies. My alpha, a big rusty colored wolf, awoke. I walked over to him, and licked his muzzle. He returned the gesture. This pleased me.
Not only was the alpha recognizing me as an equal, but as a daughter. Usually he woke me up early so he could continue his alpha teachings, but today was different. He was going to give me a break...... For now.
We started off the day with running. We ran in line, to confuse other packs that wandered into our territory. The Alpha was in front, behind him was the Alpha female, a red wolf with white paws, ears, chest, and neck.
Then behind her, was me. I am known as the beta to my father and mother, but in truth, I wasn't. The wolf behind me is. I don't doubt it either. The beta is a silver wolf, and he has the utmost respect from me. Behind him, his mate. She was a Mean wolf, her beauty disguised by her meanness. She was white. Her two yearlings trailed behind her, a combination of silver and white.
Both of the females were expecting pups soon, which brought unease to me. With pups everyone would be on edge, and then it could possibly mean a replacement. I growled at that thought. I was working hard to be the best alpha I could be. We started on our journey to find an adequate whelping den.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A day and a half later, we found it. The den was next to a stream, along with plenty of game. I went down to a quiet corner and lapped at the water. A beautiful she wolf greeted me. All black, with ice blue eyes stared intently back. I was staring at my reflection!
I was the odd man out because I was black with blue eyes. Most of my family had either green or brown eyes. Upon further inspection, I noticed a ring of gold on the outside of my irises.
The pups were due soon, along with winter and game. Thunder rolled in the distance, forewarning of bad weather. No doubt about it, trouble was brewing.---------------------------------------------
Hey wonderful people!! If you see any mistakes please tell me! How are you liking it?
Any future predictions?
Don't forget to vote!
