"I thought I might find you here." I said quietly, standing beside George as he stared out across the ocean.
"I said it was fine Josh." he replied sharply.
"I never said it wasn't."
"Why are you here then?" he asked, turning to face me with a stern look.
"I don't want to fall out with you over this George." I replied, playing with my fingers nervously.
"Who said we'd fallen out?" he replied, his face still held a cold expression.
I took a deep breath, "George if you want me to stop seeing Lula then I will, you boys mean more to me than she does."
"Really?" George asked, his face softening slightly. I nodded. "look there's no need for that, she makes you happy and it's clear she feels the same. I overreacted earlier, it was only a stupid waterpark."
"It wasn't stupid if it meant a lot to you."
"I just wanted us all to spend some time together you know?" he paused, "I would like to get to know Lula though, if she's important to you."
"seriously?" I asked, shocked.
"Yeah!"
"Well her parents are having a party tonight if you wanted to come along?" I suggested, "Tara might be there..." I added with a wink.
"Yeah ok why not." George giggled.
~That evening~
We turned into house Lula had given me the address to and were met with tall iron gates. a man stepped forward and asked for our names.
"Joshua, I'm a friend of Lula's."
he opened the gates without a word and I drove into through them onto the huge gravel driveway. there was a fountain in the middle and the driveway led around the edge, alongside the perfectly kept gardens. the house was massive, bigger than anything I had ever seen before. It reminded me of something you'd see in a movie, as I parked up, a man came to show us to the door.
we knocked on the door and were greeted by Lula who was dressed in a yellow dress which flowed down to her mid flow and showed of her slim, tanned legs. Her long brown hair tumbled over her shoulders.
"Hey!" she grinned, "You came!"
I stepped inside and kissed her cheek, "You look gorgeous." I smiled.
"Thank you." she replied, her cheeks blushing a little. "George I'm so glad you could make it!"
She hugged George and ushered us inside, we weaved between people until we found Tara, she had her mass of curls pinned up on top of her head and a simple white skater dress. Her face lit up as she saw George.
"Hey! George right?" she asked, greeting his with a kiss on either cheek.
"yeah, nice to see you again!" George smiled.
"We might leave you guys to it, Mum's dying to meet Joshua." Lula chuckled, grabbing my hand an pulling me through the crowds and out to the vast garden.
"Mum this is the boy I was telling you about!" Lula announced, presenting me to a woman who was the spitting image of Lula and her sister.
"Hello Mrs Suarez, it's nice to meet you." I smiled.
"Please Joshua, call me Lilly." she gave me a warm grin before kissing both my cheeks, "come and take a seat, tell me about yourself."
I took a seat beside her and tried to think of where to start, "what would you like to know?" I asked.
"Well Tallulah tells me you're in a band? why don't we start there?"
"ok, well it's me and 3 of my best friends, we've just come off the x factor."
"Oh really? how did you do?" she asked sweetly.
"we came fourth."
"Not too bad then!"
"They're really good!" Lula chimed in. I gave her a questioning look, I didn't know she'd ever heard us, "I may have youtubed your x factor performances." she admitted shyly. I smiled and squeezed her hand, she was so cute.
"Well as long as you're true to yourself and true to my girl, you're welcome here any time darling." Lilly smiled, placing her hand gently on my arm.
"Thanks Lilly!"
"Don't mention it! Now you must excuse me, my mother is throwing brandy back like nothing on earth." she chuckled before tottering off through the crowds.
"So... youtube stalking me are you?" I winked at Lula.
"Shut up!" she laughed, "you weren't supposed to find out!"
"Quick tip - if you don't want me to find out, don't tell your mum in front of me!" I teased.
"I'll bear that in mind!" she replied.
"You never told me you lived in a mansion by the way!" I joked.
Lula shrugged, "I don't. My parents do."
"Did you grow up here?"
"Yeah, but it didn't seem like a mansion because I didn't know any different. It was just home."
I pulled her onto my lap and wrapped my arms around her small frame. She looked down into my eyes, her eyes searching mine.
"you have pretty eyes." She said innocently, her thumb running over my cheek bone.
"Why thank you." I replied quietly.
She continued to stroke my cheek with her thumb, her eyes never losing contact with mine. I lifted a hand and pushed a strand of hair away from her face. I rested my hand behind her head and pulled it down slowly, raising my own head to meet hers. Just as our lips were about to meet a small voice interrupted us.
"MUMMY"
I looked down to see little Amy sitting on the floor with her arms crossed, she looked at us crossly.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" Lula chuckled, reaching down and picking Amy off the floor before retaking her place on my lap.
Amy pointed at me "MY JOSHY" she proclaimed.
"Sorry darling I didn't realise he was taken!" Lula smiled.
Amy latched her hands round my neck and pressed her lips against my cheek. "my Joshy" she repeated with a grin.
"Sorry to interrupt family time, but we really should be heading back." George said, grinning wildly at me.
I nodded and stood up from the chair, hoisting Amy onto my hip as she wouldn't let go. We followed George and Tara to the front door and said our goodbyes.
"I'll call you." George blushed as he hugged Tara again.
"I'll see you soon." I smiled, kissing Lula's head. after about 15 minutes of trying to get Amy to let go of me, George and I left, returning to the apartment happier than we could have imagined.
