Aerwyn's P.O.V.

I sat in the corner of the compartment, looking out of the window. Unnoticed by everyone who walked past, yet no one seemed to want to come in.

Except for the boy.

He just walked past me, not looking at me, but I knew he was aware of my presence. He sat down in the opposite corner from me, alone.

I had no wish to talk to him, and he didn't make a move to converse with me, so we just sat in silence. Not awkward, nor companionable, just... well, silent.

We didn't look at each other, yet we couldn't be more aware of the other.

The train stopped and I stood up to grab my trunk. It was a bit too heavy for my eleven year old arms. I stumbled, almost dropping it, but the boy caught it and put it down for me. He then walked off before I even got the chance to thank him.

My first year at Hogwarts, a scary prospect. A whole year alone! For the first time! I hadn't even been away from home alone for more than two hours! My father even had home schooled me to make sure no one would find out my secret!

I was shivering as we made our way to the boats, scared out of my wits. I sat in a boat with the boy. When he finally looked me right into the eye, I was tempted to dive into the lake.

Those electrifying blue eyes shocked me to no end. It was like he could look right into my soul, right through my human form.

I shook my head, trying to get rid of the strange thoughts. Of course he couldn't.

Once in Hogwarts we stood in front of the hat and I was more than scared. I was anxious, and looked around nervously.

I felt terrified, until I felt a warm hand slip into mine, the hand giving me a quick squeeze.

The hand drew away as a voice called "Riddle, Tom."

I woke with cool water spreading through my throat, reviving my body from its unconscious state. I immediately knew what happened. I had been so occupied by what Dumbledore had said about Riddle and I that I had forgotten to drink water...

Without enough water in my body I would faint, it was one of my mermaid things. Luckily Riddle was there to catch me...

Know I think about it, why do I always pass out around Riddle? It was quite embarrassing. Not that I had a reputation to hold up or something, everyone already thought of me as strange.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw Professor Dumbledore standing there, with a bottle of water in his hands.

Before I could oversee everything around me, Professor Dumbledore stepped away and Riddle stepped forward with a curious look, which then was replaced by his usual blank look.

Riddle was a master n hiding emotions, so if you wanted to know what was going on in his head, you would have to be alert on every move he made. The smallest things said something about what he was thinking.

I looked into his electric blue eyes when he opened his mouth to say something.

"Miss Ula, why, if I may ask, is it that you frequently pass out on me?"

''I don't know.'' I said quietly, looking down.

When Riddle finally walked away to go to his lessons, Dumbledore sat down at the edge of my white hospital bed, placing a silencing charm on the chamber and drawing the curtains with a flick of his wand.
