Paying the cab fare and jumping out I felt drained from dealing with Teuila. After hearing all the abuse a man can stand for a lifetime I left her sitting in the passenger seat of her car, tossing hers keys to her I started walking down the street calling a cab to pick me up from the next street.
Opening my door hoping Oriana would be asleep, I nearly bowled her over when I walked in.
"Are you alright?"
Oriana- "Yeah sorry, are you?"
I nodded still looking her over for any injuries.
"Were you leaving?"
Oriana- "No"
"Why were you near the door?"
Oriana- "I was waiting for you to come home."
I saw her bag near her feet where I dropped it and a thought popped in my head.
"Have you been standing here this whole time since I last left?"
Oriana- "Yup."
My brows rose as I kept staring at her. I was gone for over an hour and she stood in the same spot.
"Why?"
Oriana- "Because I don't know which room I'll be sleeping in and I'm a total stranger. I wasn't about to walk around your house."
"There's only one bedroom here which you'll be sleeping in. I'll take the couch."
Oriana- "No"
"No?"
Oriana- "I'll sleep on the chair. I'm not kicking you out of your room."
"You're not and I prefer the couch. I'll be in and out of the apartment and I don't wanna wake you if you're asleep. Or think I'm..."
Oriana- "Some kind of moekolo creeping?"
I wasn't sure how to take that when she had a straight face. And then she slowly grinned.
"I was kidding." She sighed. "I know I have a warped sense of humor and it takes a while for people to click onto it"
"That's okay."
She was still grinning.
Oriana- "You're so soft spoken it's like you're whispering. What's your nash?"
"What?"
Oriana- "Your nationality. You look half caste but I can't place my finger on what your other half is. Unless I'm botzing it and your actually full Samoan."
This girl wasn't shy at all. The thought made me sigh inwardly.
"I'm part Sa part Puerto Rican."
She nodded with a triumphant smile.
Oriana- "I knew it."
She was such a liar it made me smile.
"Are you hungry?"
She shrugged.
Oriana- "A girl can eat. What can you cook?"
"Boiled water."
Oriana- "Um..."
"I'll order pizza."
Oriana- "No I'll cook if you'll like."
"..."
"What?"
"I've never had a woman cook me dinner before."
