Hurricane

I could hear them coming from down the street a mile away, and I smiled. Who could ever forget that noise?

I dragged my new lemon yellow Bluebuck camping bag, packed to the max, down the stairs as fast as I could. I got to the front door just as it turned into the driveway, speakers busting out Maroon 5 and Ke$ha tunes that rattled my ears. The limo took up most of our driveway, but I didn't care- I knew what this day was going to be all about.

Suddenly, the shiny white door opened, revealing a hurricane of teenage girls and guys and a single bejewelled ballerina flat, soon followed by the other. The girl who these shoes belonged to practically ran out of the car and I dropped my bag to run to her as well and we embraced eachother in a tight hug. As I backed off, I couldn't help but noticing how gorgeous Cassie McAvery was. Her long, silky mass of light brown hair had been styled into a cute shoulder length braid, while showing off her fair skin and caramel eyes with a glittery headband that probably cost my entire monthly allowance. She wore a adorable white sundress hemmed with gold stars and an off-the-shoulder strap and diamond earrings.

I smiled to myself; Cassie had been born with a sense of expensive taste, so I had no doubt they were real. We had been best friends since kindergarten, and things had not changed since she moved with her incredibly rich parents to California. We had always been super close, sharing snacks, clothes, and even homework answers till she left our 7th grade year. We still tryed to keep in touch, but it wasn't always enough. That's why when I had recieved the invitation that Cassie's Sweet Sixteen would be an all-out, teenagers only, no adults allowed camping trip... There was no way this side of the sun I, Layla Evelyn Harper, would miss it.

When I was three, I thought that the coolest car in the world was my birthday present from my grandpa: a hot pink motorized kiddy barbie car. Once Cassie opened the door and I saw the limo's interior... Well, I had a whole new look on that. My jaw dropped as I gazed around... All I saw was pink: pink leather seats, pink streamers, pink cups, pink lipstick, a pink disco ball, and a group of girls laughing over something one of the guys said while unknowingly spilling pink koolaid over eachother.

"Well, you coming?" Cassie smiled.

I nodded eagerly and jumped inside to join the crowd.

Once Cassie got back in the car, the limo started up and she handed me a drink. I sat down and recognized some people from middle school. I waved over the deafening speakers and they nodded towards me. I was excited that I was accepted and for what was to come. From then on down, it was going to be just us teenagers. Alone. In the woods.

This was going to be great.
