Lady Min wished she had never been to the shaman. She wished more than anything that Lord Min hadn't accompanied her. He never should have heard their child's fortune been told. The shaman's words echoed in her ears. "Raise her in your house, my lady, and she will grow to ruin the family fortune, her untimely death, shall cause misunderstanding, conflicts", but there was a but, "but, raise her as the daughter of a slave, and her untimely death will cause nothing but sadness in the hearts of the beholders".

Lord Min had been entirely offended. He thought of nothing but his furtune, on which he had spent years of toil and youth. Now he was being told that his newborn daughter would just wreck it all ? He had been hoping for a son, he had got a daughter, he had thought a good fortuned daughter wouldn't be so bad, now, now he just couldn't take it. He had been famed all over Joseon as the most hard hearted politician, and now he would show just how hard hearted he would get. He ordered his wife to drown their child in a river, secretly. They would raise the child of their servant, as their own. He had heard she had a fortune that spoke of immense wealth. It would be a shame to let that luck go to waste in the hands of an unworthy slave.

Lady Min hald her child in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her hands shivered so much, she feared her child would fall down any minute. The moon was half hidden in a veal of clouds, darkness surrounding her in all angles. She couldn't let her own child be killed by her own two hands. She felt a sirge of fury at Lord Min. How could he kill his own daughter ? And she belonged to both of them. Not just him. Since when did he have the right to kill the child she had worked so hard bearing ? She prayed for a better answer.
Suddenly she felt a feeling of hope as an idea came to her. Lord Min's men were going to abduct Yoon's child anyway, so why leave her childless ? With sorrow in her heart, but a small happiness pushing her on, she ventured towards the small thatched hut where she could hear her maid Yoon wailing in sorrow, at the loss of her newborn girl. Lady Min opened the small door and smiled gratefully at the woman before her. She would be the mother to her child. Her child wouldn't have to be drowned. She would survive.

- In Three Years -

Lady Min watched as the two children played in front of her. They were still three, but both of them were already the best of friends. Only
Lady Min, Lord Min and Yoon knew the secret identity of these two girls. Lady Min treated Yoon's child as her own, and she was named Min So Hwa. She was now a cute, plump child with bright eyes and an adorable smile. Her real daughter, under the care of her maid Yoon, was named Eun Hee, lost of the privilege of having a last name as she was the child of a slave. She grew weak and feeble, and both Lady Min and Yoon feared her prophecy of early death. The two children, however knew nothing but love, kindness and friendship, and all that was good with the world.
