Chapter 1

December 24th,1997
"Dad, will you please remind me where we're going again at this hour?" The car sped over the snow covered highway, in the darkness of the night. "Hold on, you'll see in a moment, were almost there!" Said dad. " Fine... But could you at least TRY to pay attention the the road for once? It's slick out." Said Skye in a paranoid tone. " Yeah, yeah I got it. Jeez, your starting to sound a lot like your mother." Dad said. "Oh no, not two of them!" Whined Adelyne. " Hey! Will both of you just stop it? And what's so wrong with being like mom?" Said Skye. "Haha nothing Skylie." Said Dad, starting to swerve teasingly. "Dad stop! There are other cars on this road you know!" Yelled Skye. "Its fine honey, I know what I'm doing. Were safe." He turned around and looked at both Skye and Adelyne for a moment, with a serious look on his face. Then, it turned into a wild grin. "I can't wait for you guys to see this," He said while turning back around. "Its going to be-" "HONK!!!HONK!!!!" A semi blared wildly at the car, as it slipped across the road towards them. Dad started to swerve the car, and Adelyne started to scream. The whole world was spinning, and soon.... "SMASH!!!" The two vehicles collided. "Dad!" Screamed Skye."Dad!" "SKYE!" A familiar voice yelled. "SKYE! Heelllooo??? WAKE UP!!!" Skye awoke to Adelyne violently shaking and poking her. "Finally! I've been trying to wake you up for the past ten minutes! I thought you were dead." Said Adelyne,pretending to faint into Skye's lap. " No, I'm not dead." Skye said, shoving Adelyne onto the car floor. "Owww! Stop before I get stuck!" Yelled Adelyne, frantically grabbing at the car door handle to get up. "Well, its your fault for waking me up!" Skye growled as she opened the car door and stepped out. Adelyne screamed as she fell out of the car, and onto the ground. She lifted her face, and gasped." AIR! PRECIOUS AIR! I THOUGHT I'D NEVER BREATHE YOU AGAIN!" Adelyne started to hug the ground and gasp for air dramatically. "Oh, stop it Ade, your only making yourself look stupid." Skye said. Adelyne jumped up off of the ground, dusted herself off, and started to pout. "Well, it's not MY fault that I was trying be a good sister and wake you up so that you could see the new house." Skye's eyes wandered from Adelyne's pouting face, to the ginormous house behind her. "So... This is the 'new' house?" Asked Skye. Adelyne turned around and looked at the house with a funny expression on her face. "....yeah. This is the 'new' house..." " well it sure doesn't look new." Said Skye, walking towards it. Adelyne started to snicker. " I heard that it's like 100 years old- that's almost as old as my teacher!" Adelyne said starting to laugh at her own joke. "Haha. Very funny Ade." Said Skye. "Well, at least I still have a good sense of humor." Adelyne said as she walked towards the house. Then, she stopped walking, turned around, and yelled, "Oh yeah! And mom said that all of our boxes are in our rooms already... We just need to unpack them." "Ok, wait up!" said Skye while she jogged to catch up with Adelyne. "Oh and we have our own rooms this time." Sighed Adelyne dreamily. "Thank god! I don't think I could live in another room full of lame posters again!" Skye said as they made their way to the house.
