INTRO
the city of angels had been feeling more and more like a hell to me.
i'd been here for over a year and i still had yet to experience the insane hollywood parties movies gurgled on about. but that was probably because i was working non-stop. i'd gone from movies, to a stint on a tv show, to a now recurring role on an upcoming show titled 'Standhal Syndrome' about a band trying to make it big in New York. i'd been in the role for about two months and already gained mass fame, a million followers on all my social media tabs and a whole lot of cash in my back pocket.
the cast of the show was amazing. we'd become a miniature family, but admittedly i only really hung out with the actors playing my bandmates. they'd all been so lovely and friendly; it was easy to forget that we weren't a massive, crazy mess of family.
we'd all been introduced to read together and hired basically on the spot, a whole bunch of members all wanting and working for the same thing.
there was Luke Hemmings a long time block-busted, playing the role of the bands misguided lead singer. his character was a mess; a rock n roll legend playing with fire, trying to break it in big while dealing with a messy sexuality situation.
then Olivia Jackson a gorgeous greek girl fresh-faced and firey-hearted, playing the role of the drummer/heartbreaker of the band.
Calum Hood, an old-school indie film guy who was acting the part of the bassist.
Tinker Stewart playing the aspirational, slightly dim guitarist, Michael Clifford playing as her passionate, gender fluid boyfriend.
and then me, Holley Anne, taking on the role of gritty backing singer with drug problems and a troubled but optimistic lifestyle.
all of us had bonded, some were closer then others (Michael and Calum were getting extremely close..), and now we were doing a read through for the next episode early on a Monday morning. really early. it was 6am and i was pretty much dead at the coffee stand as I ordered a caramel latte and stood to the side to wait a little.
as i waited a tall attractive guy with a mop of blonde curls appeared, walking over with his hands in his pocket, smiling easily at everything. he ordered and then joined me, standing to the side and bumping into me a little as he did so, putting his hand on my shoulder to steady me and grinning easily.
"you right?" he asked in a thick Australian accent and my stomach did a couple flips.
"yeah," i said, voice all messed up from how early it was, and then after clearing my throat, "i'm all good."
"wouldn't want to hurt someone so pretty." he flirted and i almost rolled my eyes. it'd be different if i looked like shit, of course. "although i guess you were already hurt after you fell from heaven."
"do those lines normally work?" i asked jokingly and he smiled, two big dimples creasing his golden skin.
"not really. you could be the exception, princess." he said.
i winced and shook my head, "no thanks, i'm not really into the whole australian asshole thing vibe you're shooting." I said, and the barista called out my name in a monotone. i reached out to grab my cup and turned to walk away.
"before you go; grab my arm so i can tell my mates i've been touched by an angel." the boy called out from behind me and i cringed, shaking my head and looking at the floor.
"sorry, australia, never gonna happen."
