My limbs felt so heavy, unmovable , like led. My body wouldn't respond to my brains commands, not waking up, moving, nothing. It was like my mind was still in a state of shock, it wasn't part of my body anymore. It felt like I was drifting through an infinite darkness. No sense of time, no sounds, no movement, no thoughts.
My mind would sometimes flash back to the incident before I fell unconscious. The sound of tires skidding across the concrete, the echoing noises of metal smashing against metal. While distant gunshots sounded in the background along with the shouts of men in a language I couldn't quiet pick up on, yet sounded so familiar.
Then, sound suddenly returned to me as my brain launched me into consciousness.
I was alive. Sore, in a lot of pain, but alive.
An goddamn happy about it.
The sound that reached my ears was the soft murmur of a female, but she wasn't speaking English nor my language of Greek. My brain was still fogged, and wasn't working at the speed it should have been.
I slowly opened my eyes, only to be blinded by a white lights from the ceiling above, I clenched them shut, inwardly cursing for such sensitive eyes.
I tried again, taking my time, opening them a little more after three seconds, until my eyes were fully open.
My eyes were meet with a white ceiling with several lights embellished onto it.
Grimacing slightly, I turned my head, only to be stopped when a sharp pain shot down my skull, freezing me in place.
A warm face suddenly appeared above me, a woman about in her late 50's dressed in a white blouse and formal black jeans. Her face was still somewhat youthful but some wrinkles of age were covering her forehead , eyes and laugh lines surrounded her mouth along with some grey strands failing from her bun , framing her face.
"No, no, do not move darling, you are still healing." her thick accent spoke to me, before she gently propped my head up with a pillow so I got a better view of the room.
It was a basic plain room, the floor was carpeted cream while the walls were painted a light grey. A chair as satiated by the large dark oak door while another was seating by my bed along with a side table containing pills and medication of some sort.
Before my mind could come up with some sort of response, she swiftly turned away without another word, walking to the side table and fishing out one of the mystery pills before picking up a cup of water and walking back over to me.
Once she was back into front of me, she gestured for me to open my mouth, so she could put the pill inside.
I hesitated not knowing where I was, who she was nor what she was giving me.
Noticing my hesitation she gave an exasperated sigh, shaking her head slightly, "It is medication to help with pain you may feel from your injures, nothing more nothing less," she explained before probing the pill closer to my mouth.
Knowing I would have to swallow the pill one way or another, I opened my mouth slightly as she slipped the pill in before placing the cup of water to my lips.
I instantly gulped down the water, not realising how thirsty I was, the cool liquid quenched my unnoticed thirty as it moistened my parched throat.
