" Hi Sam. " We heard someone say from behind. Sam's face lightened up, looking at this person so I was curious to see who made his mood take a total 180 degrees.
I turned back. " Laura? "
" Ariana? "
" Do you know each other? " Dips asked.
" Yea. " I replied.
" Ari? " Laura asked still shocked at the fact that she found me here.
" Yes Lau. Its me " I replied smiling and hugging her.
" OMG! Ari! I missed you so very much . " she croaked.
" I did too Lau. I did too. " I said, tears forming in my own eyes.
" How...How come you are here? " she said wiping the ends of her eyes.
" I shifted here from Boston. Mom's insistence to study here. " I replied smiling.
" Whoa Wait. How do you guys know each other? " Shoaib asked.
" Put two and two together bro. Laura shifted from Boston over here and so did Ari. Both of them are from Falcon High. Get it ? " Deepika said giving him a ' duh ' face.
He still looked confused.
" I and Laura very best friends back in Boston. Her dad got transferred here so she had to come here. " I explained.
Laura was by best friend, my second half, my partner in crime, whatever you call it. Josh was her brother and after he cheated me I started ignoring him. Laura always tried to convince me to get back with him so I avoided her too.Our relation took a downhill path and we lost contact. After few weeks she told me she was shifting to India. That is when I broke down. I wanted to take back all the days when I ignored her. Josh stayed back with his uncle and Aunt in Boston.
Now that I have found her again, I wish to make up for the days I avoided her. I hope she wants the same.
She joined us for lunch. My mood which Shameeka had ruined now restored itself to its bubbly form.
We talked for some time about various things- India, Boston, Shameeka, Pani-Puri. I avoided one topic. Josh. But somehow it came up. She brought it up.
" Josh misses you a lot, you know. " she said, though a little too loud.
The table grew quiet once again and all eyes were on me.
" Hmm. " I just nodded my head to avoid the topic.
Sam was staring at me intently.
I avoided eye contact with him because he was the only one who knew about Josh. What he didn't know was it still hurt talking about him and the pain quickly became evident in my eyes.
I stayed quiet for the rest of the lunch.
After the lunch, we had our Physics lecture so we made our way to our classroom back again.
" What are you going to do about it Sam? " Laura asked getting concerned.
" I..I don't know. " He looked worried about something too.
" About what? " I inquired.
" Nothing. " Both of them said simultaneously.
I felt suspicious but I shrugged it off.
