Sorry it's taken so long fo me to post an I know I've only done two pages but I should be updating more soon as my summer holidays have started, 11,5 weeks of bliss. Boy do I love France. If you already know the various characters, could you please let me know if you don't think I'm very in keeping with their usual behaviours. Thanks.

Rani:

“I think we should head back to England,” suggested Jack. “Take this Adrisa back with us and find out what she knows and why, if it really was her, she brought us out here.”

“No.” Jake countered firmly. “we were brought here for a reason, besides I don't know if she is the threat. Also we need to try to find the Doctor's daughter, whoever she is, she might be around here somewhere, we should wait for Adrisa to wake up, she might be able to locate her.”

“So what are we going to do until then, we can't stay out here like this. We have no shelter. No food.” Jack argued. “Unlike you animals we can't live out in weather like this.”

Rachel's chair slammed back onto the lino floor as she stood up, she almost leaped over the table to grab Jack's shirt, scattering glasses everywhere. Jake's hand snapped out and grabbed hold of her shoulder, he pulled her back into her chair which Marco had calmly propped up. I was surprised by how little strength Jake exercised to regain control of his cousin, obviously Rachel wasn't as wound up as she seemed.

“Don't you ever call us simply animals ever again! Who do you think you're talking to?! A bunch of Beavers?!” she shrieked.

“Rachel! Quiet!” commanded Jake, once she had settled down, he continued, “Jack. I think we need to have a little chat.”

Jack nodded curtly, his mouth set in a thin line. He stood up, closely followed by Yanto.

“No, stay here Yanto. We'll be right back.”

“But...”

“No. Ten minutes.”

Yanto nodded unhappily and we watched them go out the door and turn right, Jake in the lead. They turned into an alley and disappeared.

There was an uncomfortable silence, particularly intense between the Animorphs and Yanto who looked ready to go at each others throats.

Clyde, noticing this, tried to break up the tension, “have you tried your drinks, the hot chocolate's super!”

It kind of works because it reminds everyone how thirsty they are, I find mine too hot so I excuse myself and go to the WC.

I'm just about to shut my cubicle door when I hear some familiar voices, I look around in surprise, trying to figure out where they're coming from. I finally notice the small air vent at the top of the wall, I stand on the toilet seat and my presumption is correct. What were the chances that Jake and Jack would choose the alley that evidently went behind the restaurant to have their talk, while I also decided to go to the loo? Pretty low I'd say.

“Listen, I know you're used to ordering your gang around, and you've been lucky so far, but you're out of your depth now.” Jack paused. “You're young...”

Jake interrupted him with such a savage snarl, that for a second I thought he'd morphed, “don't you dare say I'm inexperienced! I may not be as old as you...”

“No where near.” I could almost taste the bitterness in his voice.

Jake continued, “but I have seen my fair share of disasters, deaths and sacrifices to have aged a little more than my years so you can cut that out.”

“Fine.” Jack snapped. “I know you've been through a bit, kid, but we've known worse and we're the adults here, so I'm sorry, but you don't have the equipment nor the knowledge, to deal with this. So you're gonna have to give this fight up.”

“How are you planning on getting to England?” The change of subject surprised me somewhat.

“I have contacts.”

“Can they be trusted?”

“Probably not.”

Someone, most likely Jake, sighed. “I'll make a deal: we go to England , peacefully, unless you give us reason not to be, but first, we find the Daughter, and you'll have to arrange transport back to where we live when we're done.”

“Why do you want to come anyway?” Jack asked, surprised.

“This could get interesting. If nothing urgent pops up at home, I think we should see it through.” He replied simply, I was certain there was more to it than that though, simple interest was a lot to base lives upon.

“That's all, because it could get interesting?!” Jack asked, incredulous.

For the first time Jake actually sounded his age, younger even, “Hell yeah, this is gonna be the the most fun we've had in ages. We might even get to do a bit of window-shopping in London.” He paused, “because that's all us teenagers can be expected to think about, isn't it Jack? Don't be so thick for God's sake, it demeans you, after all, you're an adult, you know everything. Apart from the fact that at least a seventh of the world's population has been taken over by aliens, including one of your close friends.”

I heard a scuffle, when the first cry of pain reached my ears, I ran.

The toilet door slammed behind me as I crashed into the dining area. “Quick, Sarah Jane, they're fighting!” They stared at me in surprise before bursting into action, Yanto was the first through the door.

We were just about to enter the alley when 'the two J's' as I was starting to think of them, appeared. Jake supported a scrape on his chin and Jack looked a bit ruffled but other than that they were fine. And they were smiling.

“Jake, you 'K?” asked Marco suspiciously.

“Yeah, we had a bit of a misunderstanding. Why?”

“Rani heard you in the toilets, seriously, can't you boys ever keep your fists in check?” Sarah Jane sighed but there was a smile to it.

Jake laughed, “I'll have you know I have never thrown a punch before now, and he,” he pointed his thumb at Jack, “started it.”

Jack smiled ruefully, “true.”

The tension that had been as brittle as glass between them had almost disappeared, I wondered what had happened to have so drastically changed them in under a minute.

“Hey guys,” Jake interrupted my thoughts. “We're going to England.”
