After school, on a freezing December afternoon, the six friends were hanging out at the boys' house, drinking hot chocolate. Alvin, Jeanette, Simon, Elenore, and Theodore were having fun and chatting, but Brittany was sitting alone on a couch in front of a fireplace with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. Brittany would have joined in on the fun, but she was too busy thinking about what everyone's been saying about Alvin. Yes, he's an annoying, selfish bad boy, but he's also funny, cute, and sweet at times. And he liked her! Everyone was telling her she had to go with her feelings. Jeanette said she "had to make a decision, but she hoped it was the right one." What did that mean, Brittany wondered. If she got a moment alone with him, she will tell him how she feels. Brittany kept looking back at Alvin, preparing what she would say. Later, it was time to go. Jeanette and Elenore said their goodbyes and went out the door. Brittany was about to leave too, when Alvin grabbed her hand.

B- I really can't stay.

A- Baby, it's cold outside.

B- I've got to go away.

A- Baby, it's cold outside.

B- This evening has been-

A- Been hoping that you'd drop in.

B- -so very nice.

A- I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice.

B- My mother will start to worry.

A- Beautiful, what's your hurry?

B- Your father will be pacing the floor.

A- Listen to that fireplace roar.

B- So really, I'd better scurry.

A- Beautiful, what's your hurry?

B- Well, maybe just a soda pop more!

A- I'll put some music on while I pour.

B- The neighbors might think...

A- Baby, it's bad out there.

B- Say, was that a wink?

A- No cabs to be had out there.

B- I wish I knew how-

A- You're eyes are like starlight now.

B- To break this spell.

A- I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell!

B- I oughta say no, no, no, sir.

A- Mind if I move in closer?

B- At least I'm gonna say that I tried.

A- Well, what's the sense of hurting my pride?

B- I really can't stay.

A- Baby, don't hold out.

B/A- Oh, but it's cold outside.

B- I simply must go.

A- Baby, it's cold outside.

B- The answer is no!

A- Oh, darlin' it's cold outside.

B- The welcome has been-

A- How lucky that you dropped in.

B- -So nice and warm.

A- Look out the window at that storm!

B- My sisters will be suspicious!

A- Gosh, your lips look delicious.

B- Your brothers will be there at the door.

A- The waves upon a tropical shore.

B- My mother's mind is vicious.

A- Gosh, your lips are delicious!

B- Well, maybe I'll sing a verse more!

A- Never such a blizzard before!

B- I gotta get home!

A-  Baby, you'll freeze out there!

B- Say, lend me your comb!

A- It's up to your knees out there.

B- You've really been grand,

A- I thrill when I touch your hand!

B- But don't you see?

A- How can you do this thing to me?

B- There's bound to be a talk tomorrow.

A- Think of my life-long sorrow!

B- At least there'll be plenty implied.

A- What if you got pneumonia and died?

B- I really can't stay.

A- Get over that old doubt.

B/A- Oh, but it's cold, oh, baby, it's cold. It's cold outside!

After singing, Brittany and Alvin passed out on the couch.
