I hang up my phone after talking to Lexie and chuck it onto my bed. She told me she's wearing a short, red dress and I should wear a dress too. I don't know about that.
I decide to start by straightening my hair and refreshing my makeup. This time around, though, I do a smokey eye and even add a small winged eyeliner. I go back over my red lipstick and add a little bit more blush than before. I have to admit, it doesn't look too bad.
Feeling rebellious and completely different than my normal self, I pick out a tight black dress. It ends a little before mid-thigh and it doesn't hide any of my curves, that is, the curves that I actually have.
I manage put my feet into the only pair of black heels that I own and slide on my black leather jacket.
I look like a girl who parties and doesn't have a care in the world. I like this girl. The girl who doesn't worry about her family problems or cry over a boy that she's only known for a week. This girl is strong and independent.
I grab up my phone and go out to meet Lexie at her car.
_____________________Max's house is surprisingly quiet from the outside. Besides the large number of cars parked in his driveway, a few in the yard, and on the side of the street; plus a few teenagers sitting on the porch outside, the house doesn't show any obvious signs of a party.
Once inside, it's a completely different story. There's music booming throughout the different rooms and there are teenagers everywhere. The clear air from outside is automatically engulfed into an air filled with humidity and sweat from all the bodies. Lexie grabs onto my wrist and pulls me through the front room to the kitchen.
Shailene is sitting on the counter with Max leaning against it beside her. She holds a solo cup in her hand and giggles at something he says.
"I promised my sister I wouldn't drink tonight, if I can help it that is." Lexie laughs and hands me one of the cokes she grabbed out of the cooler.
"You look hot!" Will chuckles and wraps me in a hug.
"Thanks Will." I laugh along and take another sip of my Coke.
"Seriously though, my best friend is smoking, you guys!" His solo cup lifts towards me and he pulls it back to his mouth, taking a long swig.
More people begin to file into the kitchen and I end up pressed in between Lexie and Will. It's becoming uncomfortable, I can barely move my arm enough to drink.
"You wanna go outside?" Lexie doesn't hear me, she's already talking to a guy that I don't recognize.
"I'll go with you," Will places his arm over my shoulders and helps me maneuver my way through the already full kitchen.
After finally making it outside and through the people on the back patio we plop down onto the grass.
"You know what I love about these parties?" Will's voice is already beginning to slur and I can tell the alcohol has began to affect him.
"No I don't. What do you love about these parties?"
"I love how you can do whatever you want to do and dress however you want to dress. You're allowed to be whoever, do whatever, and say whatever. Everyone's too drunk to care!" He lets out a loud obnoxious laugh and slides closer to me.
