The oven beeps, telling us that the cookies are finished. My mother slides on her oven mitt and pulls them out carefully. I begin to help her spread them across the platter. After we're done I step back and admire the large counter of her new home.
The house is extremely fancy, with a large marbled kitchen, nice wooden floors, and a big dining room table. Her counter is covered in delicious looking food, there's turkey, cookies, pies, dressing, fruit salad, creamed corn, green beans, and all the good food you can imagine.
Ashton appears in the doorway and smiles at the two of us getting along. Since I went off to college mine and my moms relationship has grown so much.
I'm now a sophomore and Ashton is a junior. We've both been home for about a week, since it's Christmas Eve and we're on Christmas break.
The doorbell rings interrupting my thoughts and Ashton chuckles at the way my face unintentionally lights up. He follows me to the front door and I yank it open to reveal Taylor and his dad standing on the overly decorated porch.
Taylor smiles a wide, adorable smile and I practically leap into his arms. I haven't seen him in two months but the way his lips press against mine almost makes up for it. After our greeting I give his dad a quick hug and welcome them inside.
Taylor's arm snakes his arm around my waist after he shakes Ashton's hand and the same butterflies I've become so familiar with come alive in my stomach.
_____________________After dinner we all sit around in the living room. My uncle and his family have joined us along with my grandma.
Presents are being opened and Taylor smirks over at me as I open his.
It's a silver chained necklace with a diamond stud. I gasp at how expensive it looks, his smirk only grows wider. There's a note attached to it.
"There's more for you later. ;)"
A blush appears on my cheeks.
"I love you." I whisper into his ear.
"And I love you." He responds with a quick kiss on the lips.
