I was going on nineteen when I first came it LA. I was in my second year of university and I found out that the US Women's Rugby team wanted me in the summers and it would eventually turn into a full time position on the team. I knew one person in LA, my next door neighbour since I was six and moved in with my grandparents, CC Deville.

I stepped off the bus and saw the five foot seven blond girlie man standing at the stop. I instantly run up and hug him, CC has always been a couple inches taller than me that just adds to the face that he's four years older than me. He took my suitcase from me and we walked down the street. I was going to spend the summer in his and his band's house.

We walked up to a fairly large house and CC lead me inside. The living room was empty and he left my suitcase at the foot of the stairs. He drags me into the kitchen. Three guys sit on the counters drinking beer and throwing chips at each other. I half smile and CC puts his hand to his forehead.
"Such a good first impression, boys." CC had said and they all turn around, I guess they didn't hear us walk in.
"Shit, who's the broad." The one I will know as Bret says.
"Don't talk about her like that!" CC hissed. "This is Drew Hamilton, remember? My friend from Brooklyn who's going to be staying with us."
"Can she stay in my room?"
"She can stay in mine!" The brunette speaks up.
"No, I think it'd be best if she stayed in my room." The final one winks at me and I smile.
"Drew, don't mind them. That's Bret, Bobby, and Rikki. Not all LA guys are like them, I promise." CC tells me.
"We're from Pennsylvania!" Bobby speaks up and I laugh.
"Wait, is this the girl that you said was like your sister?" Bret wonders.
"That's Drew." CC admits and Rikki smirks.
"I just became your brother-in-law." Rikki says and wraps an arm around my shoulders.

I guess you could say it was love at first sight. Then I had to go back to New York but we tried to do the long distance thing but it didn't really work out. When I came back for the summer we picked up right where we left off. Then I moved to LA after I graduated and we started doing the relationship thing full time. That's when we started fighting and screaming at each other. The full time relationship became an on again off again relationship. Rikki going on tour in '86 didn't help that neither did me being in a different country ever other week.

I love him so insanely much, so much I wonder if I'm actually smart enough to have a degree in world history from the New York University. Maybe that's why I'm actually doing this. A strange combination of being stupid and being crazy in love.

I step off the plane in Louisiana to find CC and Snowy waiting for me.

I'm starting to think I'm more dumb than in love.
