I was almost six and Jason was two, it was just before the house fire. We were sitting on the floor of the living room. We were playing with toy cars when the door opened. My dad walked in the front door from work.
"Daddy!" I squealed.
"Drew Bear!" My dad yelled.
"Dada!" Jason called.
"J-Man!" My dad calls as he picked the both of us up.
Dad toted us into the kitchen and set us down at our spots as my mom put our plates down in front of us. Okay so you know that scene in Jaws where the little boy is miming his dad's every move? That's what my dad and I were doing. Then my dad looks at me.
"Listen here little one, we always pray before we eat. We always cross ourselves to."
"Yes Daddy." I say and he smiles.
"That's my girl."I open my eyes and I see bright white light. My vision is blurry but I blink a couple of times. Rikki is sitting beside and he smiles.
"I wouldn't be calling me daddy too loud. CC is right outside." Rikki laughs and I smile.
"I guess I was talking in my sleep again." I say and my voice comes sleepily and Rikki nods.
"Dreaming about your family again?" He wonders and I nod.
"Yeah." I mumble and he smiles.
"You're still sleepy, baby?" Rikki wonders and I nod. "We'll go home soon, I promise."
"I wanna put on real clothes." I state and Rikki smiles.
"I'll go and get the doctor." He says and kisses my knuckles. "I'll be right back, Drewy."
Within the next ten minutes I'm unhooked from all the machines and sitting back in my normal clothes and my knee brace wrapped tightly around my knee. I'm done on crutches now so that's exciting. Rikki is sitting on the bed with me now, I've just gotta stay until all the meds ware off. Rikki holds onto my hand and I put my head on his shoulder.
"I'm hungry." I say and he starts to laugh.
"You're always hungry." Rikki reminds me. "What are you hungry for?"
"Pizza." I say and he laughs again.
"We'll order pizza when we get home." He tells me and I nod.
"I love you, you know that right?" I wonder.
"Yeah. And I love you to." Rikki tells me and I close my eyes again. "Going back to sleep."
"Mmmhmm." I say and I hear him laugh.
"Okay, sweet dreams little angel."
That's the last thing I remember before falling asleep again.
