Grace was worried. No, she was actually more confused than worried. Every time she closed her eyes and tired to sleep, all she saw was the vision. Her every thought was of only want she saw. Even the rain pounding on her window didn't bother her. The vision kept repeating itself as if it was trying to tell Grace something important. After a long time of just staring into the darkness, Grace finally fell asleep.
.................................
The next day, as soon as Grace had breakfast, she started biking over to Serena's house. On her way, she saw Conner. Trying to avoid him, Grace slowed down. Conner waved at Grace forcing her to wave back. Conner made his way toward where Grace had stopped. Seeing Conner come towards her, Grace panicked and forced herself to calm down before he got there.
"Hi Grace," Conner said
"Conner, I am sorry about what happened yesterday. I didn't mean to say no. I meant yes," Grace quickly said without greeting him back. She decided not to tell him about the locket and the vision she saw because she didn't want him to think she was crazy.
"Oh that. It's okay," Conner replied, "do you want to go to a movie instead tonight ?"
Grace wanted to, but she wasn't sure if she could actually say the word yes.
"Yes," she managed to say.
"Great,"Conner said as he went away.
Grace was amazed that she actually said yes. Excited, but nervous, about going to a movie with Conner, Grace started going to Serena's house. On her way, Grace's phone started ringing.
Stopping her bike, Grace answer her phone.
"Hello Serena," Grace answered.
"Are you coming?!" Serena screamed through the phone.
"Yes, I am on my way. I was talking..."
"Hurry up. Something happened to the locket."
"What happened?"
"I don't know how to explain it. Come quick. I will show you."
"Okay. I am coming. Bye."
"Bye."
Grace hurried, pedaling faster than before. She came to Serena's house and placed her bike in the front of Serena's house. Catching her breath, she rang the doorbell. Serena's mom, Mrs. William, answered.
"Hi Grace," she greeted.
"Hi Mrs.William."Serena came down stairs and urged for Grace to come up. Eagerly, Grace went upstairs into Serena's room after talking with Mrs. William.
"What happened?" Grace whispered.
Serena carefully held up the locket. It looked different than what Grace had seen yesterday. It has rust on it and it was turning black.
"Did you let it get wet?" asked Grace
"No. I left it on my table. I don't know what happened." Serena explained.
"I don't why we are even worrying about this. It's just a locket." Grace said taking it from Serena's hand.
The locket felt warm in Grace's hand. Grace just looked at it and the locket started changing. The black rust faded away and the locket returned to being golden again.
"Why did that happen?" Grace asked worried.
"I don't know!!!"
"I don't care about this anymore Serena. Just get rid of it."
"No. I am going to keep it and see what happens. Is that okay?"
"Fine. Just don't give it to me. I already have enough to worry about because I am going out with Conner tonight."
"Okay. O-M-G!! That's amazing. But you said no yesterday. What happened?
Where are you guys going?" Serena continued asking millions of questions.Grace answered them telling Serena what happened on her way to Serena's house and why she was late.
"Okay Serena. I've got to go get ready and I have a bit of homework to finish. I will see you at school tomorrow." Grace said as she walked out of Serena's room.
"Okay. Yeah... Bye." Serena replied.
Grace headed down the stairs. She said bye to Mrs. William and went out the front door.
........................The only thing that Grace could think about was going out with Conner. They agreed to meet at the movie theater. Grace's dad, Mr. Grainer, was going to drop Grace at the theater and pick her up once the move was over.
Once Grace got home, she went to her room to get ready. She took off the sweatshirt she was wearing and look through the closet. She decided to wear the black and white stripes shirt with sleeves that were slightly longer than her elbows. She pulled in on and looked around for her scarf with a floral design on it. She found it in the corner of her closet and wrapped it around her neck. She brushed her hair and put on a white hair band which looked beautiful in her brown hair.
KNOCK-KNOCK
Her dad knocked on her door to check on her to see if she was ready.
"I am coming dad," Grace said.
"I will be waiting in the car," her dad told her as he left.
Grace pulled out her favorite pair of red flats and slipped them on to her feet. She grabbed her phone which was on her nightstand. She put her phone into her pocket as she headed down the stairs. She opened the front door and walked across the driveway to get to the car whee her dad was waiting.
She opened the car door and went inside.
"You ready?" her dad asked.
"Yes," she replied with hesitation.
Her dad noticed that Grace was nervous. So, he began his long lecture about going out and what he expects. Grace nodded and agreed to all his rules because she knew that if she broke a rule, her dad would never let her go out with anyone ever again. The reason Mr. Grainer agreed for Grace to go out with Conner is because he knew Conner for a long time. Otherwise, Grace wouldn't be going out with him.
Mr. Grainer stopped the car in front of the movie theater. Grace stepped out of the car and she saw Conner waiting inside the theater.
"Bye Grace. Have fun," Mr. Grainer said.
"Okay. Bye," Grace said.
Grace went inside the theater and Conner waved at her. She waved back and walked towards him slowly. Every step that lead her closer to him made Grace more and more nervous.
"Hi Conner," Grace said.
"Hey, I got tickets and popcorn. Let's go. The movie should start soon." Conner said as he held out two tickets.
"Okay," Grace said as she took her ticket and followed Conner into the theater.
