Mint was taken aback, her eyes slightly wide. She was just about to say something when Sage climbed up onto the roof, which creaked under the weight of them all. "Hey guys" she smiled. "Alex told me everything, don't worry." James nodded.
"I... um... I think I'm gonna go for a walk", Mint hopped down from the roof.
"I'll come too." James declared without hesitation, grinning wildly. Mint gulped, but nodded breifly. "Alright then, let's go." James leapt down from the roof and landed behind her. They were deep into the forest when James finally said something. "Look at the stars, aren't they amazing? All the patterns and shapes... forming one heck of a screen." Mint agreed, and she felt... odd, as if something was twisting her stomach. She stopped walking, and looked up at James, who was already staring at her. Their eyes met, and her face grew hot. Smirking, James leaned in, hovering his mouth in front of hers for a second, and pressed his lips against hers. They were warm, and hers were soft. Thousands of thoughts rushed through her mind at once... but one stood out. 'B- But, I already like someone...' She thought to herself.
She was frozen, unable to move. Finally, James pulled away, smiling. Mint's face was a variety of colors, mostly shades of red. Chuckling, he grabbed her hand, walking back to the bunker. When they entered, Dusk laughed, and she looked away, a different, yet similar feeling pounding in her heart. Yawning, James sleepily headed back up to the roof, while Mint sat beside Dusk, grabbing some venison out of the furnace. She slowly poked it, taking small bites. Dusk observed her silently, and she looked at him. He turned his head away almost instantly, leaving Mint to stare at his hair. She sighed, and tapped his shoulder. Just as he turned to see her, she held out a piece of venison. "Want some?" She asked. Shrugging, Dusk took a bit, and chewed the end, before putting it down. He was about to look away again, when Dusk's head slammed against the wall, blood pouring out from a deep, but not severe, wound. Instantly, Mint grabbed the nearest patch of marigold and some rough bandages. Applying the marigold to his gash, she took the time to look at him a bit more clearly, checking if he had anymore small injuries. Dusk stared at the stony ground as Mint carefully wrapped the bandages around his head. Sighing, Dusk balled his fists, and his sleeves started to roll up, but he hadn't noticed. Gasping, Mint's eyes widened as she saw scars, and bruises, what seemed to be hundreds of them. In reaction, Dusk quickly pulled down his sleeves. "Why didn't you tell me about this?" Mint asked, slightly surprised. When he didn't respond, she tilted her head. Opening her mouth, she tried to say something, but nothing came out. She tried again, but there was just silence. Dusk looked at her expectedly, waiting for what she would say. Instead, her mind went completely blank, and the next thing she knew, she was kissing Dusk, just like James had kissed her... only this felt better.
