Ends up we were visiting Harley's friend Halloween weekend, I didn't even know it was this weekend. Even though I wasn't working, I never really had time to see any of the Halloween ads and stuff. We were halfway to Pamela's house and I couldn't wait. Harleen was busy singing along to the radio while I was reading a book in the backseat. The seat next to me, the front seat, and the trunk were all filled with stuff for our two and a half day trip. We finally turned off of the highway and into a small neighborhood. We turned down street after street, getting further from the cold grasp of the city.
"We're close, we're almost on campus. I still can't believe she failed psychology again." Harley spoke after turning onto another road I had never heard of.
"I've never been out here before, thanks for letting me go." I said kind of quietly.
"Hon, what? I'm on the phone, we can talk when I get off." Harley looked into the mirror to see me, "What was that again? I'm sorry."
I rolled my eyes and looked out the window as she swerved from lane to lane, barely missing a few cars. I was about to scream but I remembered she was on the phone, Harley is the most distracted driver ever.
"Sorry about all the swerving, I got a little distracted."
"Oh, um... it's fine, like yeah. It's totally chill."
"I swear we're almost there, and sorry about getting mad while I was on the phone. It was just important and I didn't want them knowing I had another person in the car."
"Why are you so secretive all the time?"
"What?! Excuse me?! I am NOT secretive all the time!" She shouted, beginning to swerve a little bit again.
"Nothing, just a joke Harley. Sorry, I guess it wasn't that funny." I played it off and she focused on driving again.
She finally turned into a parking garage after another five minutes of awkward silence and rock songs on the radio.
"Is this the dormitory she lives in?" I perked up from my book, happy to be able to get out of the car.
"She lives in a condo across the street. But it's free to park here." Harley grabbed a group of suitcases out of the trunk and began towards the elevator.
I copied her, grabbing bags and getting on the elevator. She smiled, it was adorable that she was so excited to see her old college friend. I still hadn't told her about what happened with Edward the other day, I hope she'll be happy for me.
"Is she nice?" I spoke up as we stepped out of the elevator.
"Pam?"
I nodded.
"Yeah, she's special. I think you'll like her though, but if you don't then that's okay too. Not everybody accepts her for her, or for who she likes." She muttered that last part, but I'm pretty sure I heard it correctly.
We entered the brick building, the inside was nothing like the outside. The inside was carpeted, nice carpet, and gorgeous lights throughout the hallway. The outside looked like old bricks, and it was covered in graffiti.
Harley headed towards the elevator and I just followed her. We went up to floor 8, and down a long hallway. The bags were starting to feel heavy on my back and slung over my shoulders. Harley stopped in front of a green painted door, it also had flower stickers on it. I was a bit confused by the door, it looked like this college girl had kids. She knocked and the door immediately swung open.
"HARLZ!!!!!" The provocatively dressed red head shouted and hugged my friend.
"This is Scarlet. She's super excited to be here, I hope you like her. Scarlet, meet my old friend Pamela Lillian Isely. She goes by Pam, Lily, or Ivy!" Harley pushed me closer to Pamela and she awkwardly hugged me.
