I woke to all the other girls staring at me with smirks.
One was holding something pointy but I had to squint to see it. When I finally made out what it was. I tried to get out of the room in hopes to escape but she struck me In the stomach with a kitchen knife.
As I was dying, I was hearing laughs from the other girls. I also had heard comments from the other girls saying things like
"We always knew you would die." "Im just glad someone found the guts to kill her." "Someone just needed to do it I guess."
When I woke to Mrs. Montgomery shaking me, there was sweat lining my forehead.
I got up and the one who was holding the knife, was still smirking. I screamed and ran out of the room.
Instant memories of my father beating me flashed into my mind when I bumped into a familiar face and screamed louder than before, thinking the face reminded me of my father.
When I stood up, I realized he was freaked out as well as I. I didn't realize how loud I screamed.
"I am so sorry..." He leads off waiting for me to finish. "Sydney," I answer after a moment of silence. He nods and walked away as I walked back to my sector of my the center.
--------------flashback------------------I had been at this adoption center for 5 years now, waiting for someone to think I was good enough to bring home. Waiting for a place that i can actually call home. But I knew I would never really be that girl.
I had a normal life until I turned 5. Than my dad got into drugs. After a while, he got my mom into drugs.
My father overdosed twice and went to the hospital, where he got arrested for having the drugs on him both times. The second time, he was put in jail for life, while my mom and I had moved in with her family.
She was high everyday after I got home from school. The drugs and the fact my dad wasn't there made her go crazy and kill the part of the family we lived with along with herself.
