Breathe in, breathe out. Something I always do whenever I start my day. I don’t know if whether it be another typical boring day or if it’ll be different than the past days I always have. All I know is that, I am a poor man, longing for something or in my case, someone who will actually appreciate me using a space here on earth, or even just using the oxygen here on earth, breathing.

It seems to me that, everyone I knew – not that they’re that countless – doesn’t know me back. Like they were there just for me to borrow some of their tools whenever a tire of my cheap Honda was broken or when I need extra tomato sauce, or when they needed a drive, who knows. They all don’t seem to care anyways.

After my little ritual, putting my hair in a bun is included, I decided to drive out of my driveway and go to the familiar Grab-a-Taxi station or where all the cab drivers were supposed to fall in line. I work as a cab driver, obviously seeming I fell in line in this stupid station. It didn’t give that much of money but it did give me just enough to pay my rents and hey, I love driving, especially at nights.

When I wasn’t a cab driver yet, I was and am a fond of long drives at night, with the night roadtrip playlist I made and was put in a various mixtapes blasting through my speakers. I love making playlists, actually I love music.

I got it from my parent’s passion in music. They both have lovely voices – at least that’s what I remember – and I guess, I also inherit from them? People used to tell me I have lovely voice just like my parents, but I don’t really believe on them but I still used it in good use, because there’s nothing bad in trying right?

It was around 2010, I auditioned to x-factor, a reality TV show where everyone sings and being judged as to whether your voice is acceptable in the people’s ears or not.

Unfortunately, my voice isn’t.

I start my shift at 3pm, I always do the night shifts, as to what I told earlier, I love long night drives. It gives me peace. I love the little number of cars driving on the road with the dim orange light that the posts on the side of the road have and of course from the stars and the night. When I don’t have any customers yet, I tend to park in the side of the road and sit on my car’s hood and just stare at the numerous amount of stars in the sky.

I wonder how big they really are. People from NASA or in some astronomical stuff say that they are all far from earth and are so big about 20-40 km in diameter big (you can say I googled about it). This type of stuffs is what amazes me how wonderful God’s creations are. He’s so talented and creative to even make these good looking sparkling rocks in the sky, which not for only our amazement, but also to give light in the night.

After 15 minutes of playing with my thoughts, a buzz came on the phone attached in my car and said, there’s a customer needed a cab. 10 minutes away from my location. So I speed off, not wanting my customer to wait now do I?

“Hello I’m Harold Stykes and I’ll be sending you wherever your heart desires.” I say my everyday line with the same fake enthusiasm. I love my job but heck; they don’t care about me so why care about them “where are we off to sir?”

They were a family of four. The parents, and the two kids, twins to be exact. The father sits on my passenger’s seat and the mother and the kids were at the back. I love kids, I want to have my own in the future. The kids were like around 6 years old, rambling non-stop about how excited they are to see The Good Dragon in the movies. I’ve seen it on twitter as well, the perks of following Disney. It was actually pretty good.

I remember the first Disney movie I loved when I was a kid. The Lion King. My dad loved it as well so he bought the trilogy CDs. He always make it play on the TV so me being a kid, whom always was entranced by cartoons, watches it with him too. That made me loved that movie.

Once I’ve dropped them off the mall, to see the movie, the father gave me his pay and left a little tip. A tip for faking an enthusiasm and greeting them.

Five more customers and I’m exhausted. It was 20:52 written in neon red on my car’s little monitor. It has cracks on it, being this car old and super used. I decided to stop to a nearby convenient store to take a rest and buy dinner. Hotdogs aren’t bad for dinner right?

After 15 minutes of resting I went back inside my car, I fixed my bun again but decided to put my hair down since it’s been tied the whole day. I opened the phone I have in my car to know that I’m back and available for driving.

But fortunately for me, I didn’t need to wait minutes to know there’s a customer needed me. There’s a man running out of the restaurant, Perfect – as what was written on the front – it was across from where the convenient store is, and across from where I am currently parked.

He looked to his sides to see if there are any cars coming and saw my cab. When he saw the road is clear, he take a run to cross the road and went to my passenger seat.

I was indeed shocked when I finally see his appearance, apparently, he’s crying. From the sniffs I am hearing and quiet sobs getting out of his lips, I guessed right.

“Hello I’m Harold Styles and I’ll be sending you wherever your heart desires.” I said again for the 5th time today but this time without the fake enthusiasm tone, but confused one “where are we off to sir?”

“Please just….just take me away from here”

And that was the very first time I had a different day than my ordinary boring ones.
