This is quite long...it's also unedited so enjoy a chapter full of mistakes
You had a crush on your best friend, the leader of the Cobras -- Ace Merrill. His looks, body, personality, the way he would only let you see the nice side of him...it was all perfect in your eyes. You'd liked him for a while now, and you felt like it was time for him to know about it.
"Ace," You whispered up at him. He opened his eyes a little and smiled down at you, inviting you to continue. "You're my best friend," You told him, and saw him smile larger at that.
"And you're mine," he reminded you just as quietly. You nodded your head, knowing that what he said was true. You sat up a little bit, becoming nervous again. You were always a little nervous around Ace, but it was normally good nervous.
"And, best friends tell each other everything, right?" You confirmed, looking down at your hands which you were twisting and untwisting. You felt a gentle hand beneath your chin as Ace made you look up to meet his confused yet beautiful eyes.
"Y/N, what's up?" He asked, instantly concerned. His thumb was lightly brushing over your chin as he gazed concernedly into your eyes. This close contact, his concerned gaze, his skin even lightly up against mine, it was too much to take.
Without thinking of your actions or their consequences you leaned your head in, placing your lips on his and waiting for some kind of reaction.
He seemed frozen to the spot, his lips still against yours and his hand still lightly on your face.
You could feel your face heat up from frustration and embarrassment as you realised he was having no reaction.
And in that moment you hated yourself more than you ever have for ruining whatever it was that Ace and you had before you had to go and 'fuck it up'.
But that moment was over as soon as you felt Ace's lips begin to move against yours in a foreign yet somehow familiar way. His hands moved up from where they were so he could cup your face, pulling it closer to his.
His one hand tangled in your hair as his other one moved up and down the side of your face, as if memorizing it.
His full lips pushed against yours as the kiss became more desperate and you let out a happy sigh when his mouth forced yours open, allowing his tongue to wander into yours.
As soon as you got used to what was going on, Ace pulled away, nearly pushing you off his lap as he went to stand up, pacing the room and running a hand through his blonde hair.
You tried to sit up straighter and look less disheveled as you gazed up at his impatient form.
"Ace, what's wrong?" You asked out quietly. You were afraid for him to tell you that it was just an impulse move, that he could never see you in the way you so clearly saw him.
"We...you and I...can't, this can't happen Y/N," he told you, stuttering to get the words out.
You felt your heart drop but you couldn't deny that you had a feeling this was coming. You thought it would be too good to be true. Still, you couldn't help the next words that came out of your mouth.
"Why?" You asked desperately, getting up from your position on the couch so you could stand in front of him to stop his pacing. When he saw you were in his way, he stopped and just looked down, his jaw clenching a few times as he wrung his hands.
"You can't want me," he told you simply, still not meeting your eyes. You tried to peer into his, curiosity and confusion clear on your face.
This wasn't the response you were expecting, you were thinking there was something wrong with you, that he simply didn't want to be with you.
