*Iris' POV*
I put away my cellphone which is magical connected to the Midgardian chatroom after I've logged off. I speed walk out of my chamber and walk to the end of the hallway to Thor's quarters. I knock a few times but don't await for an answer. I open the massive golden door and nod towards my brother-in-law. Well, not actually because Loki is adopted... Never mind. I nod to Thor and he rises up from the chair he was sitting on. He summons his hammer and side to side we set course to the stables.
"So why do you want to find Loki?" I ask Thor on the way to the horses. We've decided to go see Heimdall. The watchman of the Bifröst could see everyting, unless Loki enchanted himself. Making him invisible from his sight, he could do that. But I hope Loki hadn't do that. That would only convince Thor more he's up to something.
"It is not a matter of a big deal but I just thought it was strange that he was nowhere to be found," Thor answers but I shrug. Loki did that sometimes, I do not know why but I guess that sometimes he just needed some alone time. I get that, I need that a lot too. But I lock myself up in a room with a good book and don't disappear in nowhere.
Once we're in the stables, I saddle my black mare named Elvira and Thor his white stallion Cesar. In an easy pace we ride through the majestic city, but I can sense Thor actually wants to ride faster. So once we're outside the city and on the glass bridge he encourages his horse to a gallop, and I follow him more calmly. I don't want Elvira spraining her leg on the slippery glass. I let out a sigh, I get why Thor is so worried. All this reminds me of the last time Loki had suddenly been gone. Later I've found out he had been visiting Jötunheim, letting some Frost Giants cross the rainbow bridge so that they would try to steal the Tesseract. From then on, everything had went bad. Thor had wanted to take revenge because the Giants had broken into the Asgardian treasure room. The All Father had of course forbidden it but together with the Warrior Three and Loki, Thor had visited Jötunheim. Asgard had after that been hanging on the edge of war and Odin had banished his heir. Loki had found out he was adopted and the All Father had fallen in the Odin-sleep, leaving Loki as the rightful King of Asgard even though he was adopted. It had taken me a while to realize that Loki wasn't his normal self. Jealousy can sicken the mind as in a disease, even the God of Mischief. Loki was so jealous on Thor, always standing in his shadow and he tried his very best to make his father proud, but Thor was always better.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when we've reached Heimdall. We dismount our horses and walk inside Himinbjörg. Heimdall is standing in the center of the room and turns around when he hears us coming.
"My Prince, Lady Laufeyson," he greets us with his deep and warm voice. I nod but let Thor do the talking.
"Heimdall, can you see Loki?" Thor asks and Heimdall looks confused.
"Yes," he answers slowly. "He's right here on Asgard."
Suprised I lock eyes with Thor. But he had not been in the palace, so where...? But then I know, and I gesture Thor to follow me outside. He thanks Heimdall for his time and follows me.
"I think I know where he is then," I say to Thor and mount Elvira again. In a trot we ride over the bridge back to the city, and all the way back to the palace. But just before the golden gate I leave the path, and ride between the few trees. It is not quite a forest but the city is not really build for woods. After a few minutes I spot the huge bunch of rocks and as I've thought, I can sense Loki's spell. I dismount my horse and glip between the opening of the rocks, with Thor right behind me.
"Loki," I say when we've entered the small enchanted meadow and Loki looks up from the page he was reading. He smiles when he sees me but it disappears when he notices his brother.
"Can't I even read without being disturbed?" he asks annoyed.
"Loki," Thor's voice booms through the small place, "what've I told you about suddenly disappearing?"
"I must not but, brother dear, you forget I do what I want."
I chuckle and Thor throws a judgemental look to me but then turns back to Loki. "Iris here did not marry you so that she could be the one to blame when you do something improvident."
"Neither did I marry him only to free him from his chains, as you think," I say gritting with my teeth. "I love him and I do trust him." Loki stands up from the stump he was sitting on, and walks to me. He closes me in his arms and I burry my face in his chest.
He places a kiss on the top of my head. "I love you too. And I would never do something that could bring dishonor on you."
"I know you wouldn't."
"Yes, now would you come back to the palace with us?" Thor interrupts our moment and I feel Loki's chest going up and down from a deep annoyed sigh.
"Fine," he spits and walks back to grab his book from where he had been reading. Hand in hand we leave the enchanted meadow, and I can feel Thor's eyes resting on our backs. We ignore him and ride back to the palace.
