"Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure." - J.K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The town which Jael and her family inhabited was not characteristically small; it was bustling with activity and the population was rather large. There was a brick-street downtown area and a large shopping mall, as well as several urban subsections, like Havenside, where Jael presided. The Weston Academy and Clifton High were the only two high schools, and one middle and elementary filtered into Clifton. Yet it was mundane and simple, like the setting of a poorly written, teen fiction novel. The crime rate was low, and the traffic acceptable, there were no drug cartels, nor underground human trafficking. It was safe, tidy, and sinfully mundane.

Perhaps that was why Jael had gone with Lucifer to begin with; she was undoubtably bored and this handsome stranger had given her the opportunity of a lifetime, even if just for the night. Besides, if her worse thoughts became reality, then the town would finally have a high-class murder on their hands. Perhaps something interesting would finally happen in the town of Calabrese, Massachusetts.

"So, where are we going?" Jael finally asked, angling her head to watch Lucifer for a moment. Her hands were folded neatly in her lap and her mouth silently chewed on the inside of her lip; regret bubbled in her chest as he drove down the nearly vacant streets.

He cocked up and eyebrow and glanced away from the road, eyeing her and her nervous stance for a moment; he could feel her energy radiating off of her on waves, and it caused his back to ache--his wings yearned to spread. "The park," He replied vaguely before turning his attention back to the road.

Jael made a face, her eyes watching out the window. It was past nine o'clock and cold, the temperature seeming to drop with every minute that passed; perhaps it was a sign from a higher power warding her away from the excursion with the man. Regardless, walking around the park in the dark, freezing, did not sound appealing.

Lucifer caught her look of discontent out of the corner of his eye; he was constantly watching her, afraid she'd vanish now that he was so close. "You know, I could just take you home," He replied with a frown, unable to avoid sounding cross; he was trying, at least. It was difficult to control himself when she was around. And, with a frown, he quickly realized she either pissed him off or aroused him; he was going to have to find a safe, middle-ground. With an intake of air and a hand on the pendant around his neck, he calmed himself, focusing on the road.

Jael rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, settling back into the passenger seat of the Camaro and not turning her head from the window. "Asshole," She muttered under her breath as she watched the streetlights go by in a blur. He was heading downtown, so thankfully, he hadn't lied about his destination.

Lucifer cast a narrow-eyed glare over at her for a moment before signaling right and exiting off of the road and into the pot-hole-filled parking lot in front of the decrepit-looking playground. He slid the car into a parking spot and switched it off, leaving the place nearly silent, save for the pair's breathing.

"I hope you know hardly anything in town is open after eight o'clock," Jael chimed, looking around at the seemingly-dead town. Even the park was vacant, spare a nightingale whose song filled the empty scenery like an ominous warning to the new arrivals.

Lucifer pursed his lips, ignoring the birdsong with s frown before claiming out of the vehicle; Jael noted that he hadn't had on a seatbelt.

Begrudgingly, she climbed out of the car after him. The wind easily cut through the school spirit sweatshirt she had on and she immediately regretted every decision up until that point of time. The birdsong rang louder as she followed after him, it's voice loud and clear.
