Going through another airport was easier than the first. But it seemed more busy.
We go through all of the security and set foot into Wichita Falls, Kansas. We tried and tried to hail a cab but none of them came. One ran over my foot. But finally we got a cab and told the man to take us to Topeka, Kansas. My dad wanted me to tell the man where he should take us, but I didn't want to. I didn't want Veronica in my life. I didn't want to go to a new school. I didn't want to be in Kansas.
"So what made ya come to Kansas?" Asked the man driving the cab. He was smoking and when he let the cigar out of his mouth, smoke covered my face completely.
"We're visiting a special someone." My dad replied with a smirk. I rolled my eyes.
"Ahhhh, is it an anniversary? Eh, eh?" The man asked.
"No," my dad would very well love to talk about Veronica all day. But I won't let him. "We are going to see-"
"The zoo!" I yelled. "We're going to see our pet panda." I would love to have a pet panda, or maybe go to the zoo rather than see Veronica in the flesh, but my dad would not let me throw off the cab driver. Me dad put his face up to mine in anger. Our faces were so close together, that our eyes crossed.
"Jenny isn't really happy about my new girlfriend." My dad said.
I rolled my eyes again.The ride took longer than I thought. We had to take three different cabs and I had the greatest idea to yell deer in the middle of the night when one of the cabs was taking us to a road that went through the woods. We ended up crashing and my dad took my phone and my laptop away (lol ThomasC123 ). But finally we were in Topeka. My dad pulled out a crumpled piece of paper with Veronica's address on it.
"1214 Emily Drive." My dad said aloud. We started walking past a school that looked like a prison where two girls were in a physical fight. One was scalping the other by pulling her hair, while the other had a knife and was slashing and cutting at the other.
"Please don't send me to that school." I begged.
"Don't worry," my dad started. "It's a private school, they won't accept you." I couldn't tell if he was joking or lying, but either way, I don't think that he thought about how it would sound before he said it.We kept on walking until we found the house. My dad and I were both sure that that wasn't the house, until we saw a figure at the door window walk past.
As I went to the door, the house was pealing with paint and had the numbers 1214 scratched into one of the pillars with the moss on it. You could barely see the '4' on the bottom of the '121'.
My dad knocked on the door. When he did, it sounded so hollow that if I kicked it, the door would snap in half.
"Well, looks like no ones home." I started trotting off the creaky old porch when suddenly my dad grabbed my wrist.
"It's unlocked." He said as he opened the door. It made a loud screech sound like metal on metal. We walked inside to find a note on the coat hanger. My dad grabbed it a read aloud;
"Sit on the couch. ~Veronica. Aww, she put a heart and a smily face on it." I rolled my eyes for the third time. What is this woman doing to my dad? Oh jeez, he is such a sucker.
We went over to the nice couch with the word 'Còmo estas' embroidered on the cushions. We sat down and waited.My dad looked at his watch.
"It's been 20 minutes now." He said. We both sighed in disbelief (well, I sighed with relief) as we decided to leave. Before we could get our butts of the couch, Veronica came around the corner and pointed a gun towards us.
