I woke up that morning happy. I rolled around in my blankets, wanting to go back to sleep, but I heard singing from the kitchen. I groggily sat up, and made my way into the room. Now there was a sight I would want to capture in a picture. All the windows were open, Pink Floyd was playing from who knows where, and my mom was busy dancing in the kitchen, smoke coming from the stove. But that's not even the weirdest part. What my mom was actually wearing was the scariest thing ever.
Her dirty blond hair was messily put into a bun, and a neon pink scarf was wrapped her head. She wore a neon yellow sundress that had big tacky white daisies all over it, and orange flip flops. She danced and sang as she cooked whatever it was, and she honestly looked like a crayon box.
"Mom?" I say, hoping that that isn't my birth mother in front of me. Oh, but it is.
"Hello, honey! How did you sleep?" She said, turning around to face me.
"Very good, what about you Mom?" I asked her, and she still had that smile on her face.
"Amazing! The bed was comfortable and I loved waking up to that view," She said, her attention now back to the cooking.
"Mom, why are you so bright today?" I asked, referring to her clothes. Not that they were bad, just very different for her.
"Wear what you feel, wear what you feel! I felt happy this morning, so I decided to dress like it," She said.
"Well, that's nice," I said, and she nodded. I went to go look out the windows, and the cool breeze covered my body. I decided that today would be a perfect day to go running.
"Hey Mom, can I go for a quick run? Just around the little neighborhood?" I said, hoping she would be okay with it.
"Sure, but don't stay out too long," She said, still humming to what is now the Beach Boys.
I ran to my room, and put on some athletic shorts and a tank top. I threw my hair up into a ponytail, and grabbed my phone and earbuds. I walked out of the apartment, and onto the little sidewalk we walked on yesterday.
Plugging in my earbuds, I turned to a song that would get me going. 'I Love It' by Icona Pop bursts through, and I instantly start running. Since it's so early, most of the kids aren't out, only elderly couples are.
I make my way down the sidewalk, and decide to go all the way down the street, to see the record store again. I see the familiar tan building, but there is no one outside. I decide against going into the store, and tell myself another time would be better. As I run back to the apartment complex, I see a group of kids my age. There's three boys, and two girls. The three boys are tall, and each one of them are hot.
The first one is definitely Hispanic, and he has short black hair, and very dark eyes. He is wearing basketball shorts and a red Nike shirt. I notice that he was braces, which I think is super cute. He is holding hands with a tan girl, with pin straight blond hair, and piercing green eyes. She's much shorter than him, but she seems nice. Next to them, there is a tan boy with spiky black hair, and bright blue eyes that are almost breathtaking. He wears blue skinny jeans, and a basic white t-shirt, but it fits him perfectly. Next to him is a girl with very long red hair, and brown eyes. She wears a tank top and skinny jeans. And lastly, there is a boy who is very tall. His chocolate brown hair is styled up into a quiff, and his bright blue eyes send me swooning. He wears board shorts and a muscle tank, which does its job, because his muscles are sculptured perfectly.
I keep my eyes low, while going past, hoping they wouldn't see me. Not like they would notice me anyways, they seem too wrapped up in their own worlds.
Before I get to pass them, a hand stretches out and grabs my arm. I am caught by surprise, and jump back, and when I look up to see who it was, I am shocked to find the quiff boy staring back at me.
