As we hit the ground from the long flight, I realized I fell asleep as well. Lily had passed out once we took off. Neither of us loved flying a lot, let's just say that it wasn't our favourite mode of transportation. After about 5 minutes of getting my hair the way I wanted it to be, I got up and stretched. It hurt sitting there for so long. I reached up and got my carry-on’s along with Lily’s bag. All of our luggage was already in our new flat. It sounds so weird to say that. Back in the states, we called them apartments. We ran outside and Lily called up the taxi.

“Could you please drive us to Whitfield Mill, Meadow Road, Apperley Bridge BD10?” Lily asked kindly as she read off our adress from the statement paper.

“Sure love we’ll be there in about 15 minutes.” his accent made me laugh. It wasn’t pure British, it had some kind of Asian mixed in. Strange mix, I thought to myself.

The drive was short but driving through it, I saw how pretty the city was. I loved every second of it. The buzzing of the streets. How people never stopped moving. I imagined New York to be like this as well but I fell in love with England. As we reached the neighborhoods, the houses were absolutely perfect. Lily and I wanted something that was big enough for more than two but it still had a cozy feeling to it. Pulling up to our new home, it was exactly that and then some.

Once the driver stopped on the curve, I jumped out. Cold and moist air greeting me in the middle of June. The cloud were covering the sky but it looked as beautiful as every. I ran up the stairs in our driveway to our new home, almost slipping in the process. Running on slick pavement isn’t a good idea. Lily caught up behind me and toke the keys out of her dark purple carry-on bag. We looked at each other for a minute and finally decided to put the keys in the door. We heard it click signifying it was now unlocked and I ran in first.

“Wait!!!! Shoes off. Now.” Lily yelled at me, I should’ve known better. Lily is the organized, neat freak. I slipped off my Nike Free Runs and ran throughout the entire house. I ran up to the kitchen and I was stunned.

It looked so much better in person than in the pictures online. There was a black marble countertop with light colored wood underneath it. All the appliances were covered in chrome. The walls were white and it was fairly big for a flat in England. The kitchen lead into the living room. This had a nice terrace leading outside. The room itself had 2 white leather loveseats, a small glass table, a zebra print rug, some windows cut into the ceilings, and light colored wood was placed throughout the flat. I traveled down the hallway and found our rooms. My room was white and had one aged brick wall on the left side with a window. I had a queen sized bed with a small tv in the corner. Along with a walk in closet. Lily had a slightly smaller room with the same layout as mine with a few differences here and there. The bathroom was absolutely tiny. There was a cramped shower with a toilet and a sink. It also had a towel heater or at least I think that’s what it was. However, it was nice. The walls had this kind of marble covering and it has a really nice mirror. The rest of the flat was pretty standard with it’s closets and such. It was perfect to say the least. Considering it was our first flat, I'd say we did an amazing job choosing a place.

This was now my home, our home together. This is something we’ve only dreamed of. The fact that it came true is so amazing. This is now my new life. I quietly unpacked my boxes that were placed in my room. I unloaded what little clothes I had and hung them up on my hangers. I toke out my album of pictures and set it on the side of my vanity. This photo album had pictures of my “family” and all of my friends. It had a lot of memories in it. I was going to do this collage of pictures all over my walls. I did it in my old room and it looked amazing. Maybe later, I thought to myself. I toke out everything else and just started organizing my new room. I was interrupted when Lily came barging into my room.

“AMMMBBBBEEERRRRRRRRRRR” she dragged that out, she knows that I hate that.

“Yes? That is my name good job Lillian.” I sassed back.

“We needa get some interviews going for jobs and shit.” she pushed.

Its true, we’re going to have a lot of bills to pay and with Lily going to college here that’s not helping much either. I know there’s a dance school five minutes away from here, maybe I could apply there. I’ve been a dancer for 15 years now and I still love every second of it. Lily was interested in the fashion field which is why she’s going to Bradford college for a fashion course. When it comes to fashion I trust Lily. After college, she can get a better job. Meanwhile I bet she can work at the café on the corner right? And we can babysit since we love kids. I’ve established we’re not completely hopeless in this new country. I believe we can, in fact, do this.

It was now 2:00 in the afternoon. We decided to go get some food at the Aldi down on the corner. We walked down there in a light drizzle of rain. I had on my skinny jeans and a loose grey sweater with my hair back while Lily had on skinny jeans with a white baggy sweater and a green beanie which she stole from me. Not that I minded, she's basically my sister. As we walked in the store I accidently bumped into this girl around our age maybe a little bit older. She had two other little girls with her. A lot younger. They all had long freely flowing brown hair. The youngest had a small touch of makeup. Her hair was straightened and had a snapback on. The snapback didn't look like it'd belong to her. Maybe a boyfriends? Who was I to go snooping and judging when I'm the new one here. The middle one had eyeliner on and a flawless finish on her makeup. Her hair had soft curls down her back. The oldest one, whom I'm bumped into, had a perfect complection and had done winged eyeliner. Her hair had waves in it much like mine. All three had perfect eyes. I haven't told you a lot about myself but, I have pale sometimes tan skin and electrifying blue eyes. I snapped out of my thought and I quickly apologized to her and made my way into the store. Lily stood there with her mouth wide open.

“Close your mouth honey, people might get the wrong impression.” I told her, which snapped her mouth shut.

 “Amber?”

“That would be me.” I replied as I reached for the milk on the top shelf of the refrigerator. Of course me being short had to go on pointe to reach the darn milk.

“Those girls all kinda looked really similar to you..” she whispered that last part so only I could understand her.

“Don’t be silly Lilly.” I laughed at the rhythm I just made up.

“Just get the eggs and butter.” I told her brushing off the delicate subject. My mind wondered as I paid the cashier. What if I was related to them? The chances of them actually being related to me was very little to none, Amber. But you know they look like you! Yeah well they’re complete strangers. The battle in my head continued all night. I crawled into my new bed and relaxed instantly. It felt good to lie down in my bed, in my new flat, in my new life. I let the worries disolve as I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
