The Isolation Project

Background Information

Greetings. Before I can explain my story in this journal, you will first need to know some basic knowledge of our society. The following paragraphs will explain the (boring) history of the United States and The Isolation Project. I promise you, however, that my story is anything but boring.

My proper full name is #0000000266 (Or #266), but my birth name is Isabelle-Marie Regina Theresa Stella the second. Despite my proper full name looking like a long division math problem and my birth name being just as long, most people call me Isabelle. I am a tribute to the President's second trial of project #84657000003, also known as The Isolation Project. The year was 2079, and as the second depression came to an end for the United States due to debt from the second global War for Natural Resources, people began to blame violence and negative influence from our society as the reason for two global wars in the short time span of twenty years. Due to this, the President was almost impeached because of mutiny from the country he was supposed to be leading. In a frantic effort to please the public, President Anderson created The Isolation Project, a project designed to isolate humans from the public society up until the age of eighteen, and until then they spend all those eighteen years studying and preparing to take on the public world that they would be dropped in on The Priming Day. We have seen videos and watched the real world from afar, but within days will be The Priming Day, when me and my fellow pupils will be dropped into the world to help spread the knowledge and wisdom we gained from not having any outside influence from the world. Due to this isolation, many of us are naïve, which is the reason why this is the second trial of the project.

You may have noticed that I am Isabelle-Marie Regina Theresa Stella the second. I am also the reason why this is the second trial. My mother was part of the first trial. Due to the Preparers, the ones who teach us and prepare us for our release to the public, and their lack of teaching about consequences, my mother had me at the young age of fourteen. Normally, I would have just been killed off along with my mother and father, but I was not the only one born from people of the first trial. One of my pupils, a boy named Jaxton Kummings, was also born on the same year as me. Many other people from the project began to make rebellious decisions, and eventually became smarter than the Preparers. Everyone from the first trial was killed, and Jaxton and I were kept in isolation. The news that the first trial was a failure caused President Anderson to be impeached, and the public didn't want anybody else that was in the government to take his place, so they called for a new election all together. That is how our current president, President Rose, became in office. She has been our President for almost 18 years. It was her idea to  start the second trial. So 18 other babies, all born in the same year as Jaxton and I, were taken from their families to become tribute in the project.

That is how the twenty of us became captive on the island of Sinto, which, like most of the planet after the two wars, is mostly desert and ocean. This is where we have been raised and taught everything we need to know to live in the real world by the Preparers. And in three days will be The Priming Day, and we will all be released in different places around the world to fend for ourselves and help our society become a better place. Only, the Preparers are very worried, and it is not for us. They don't care about us, they only care about the society that we are going to help. None of us know why, but something could possibly go very, very wrong. And if something goes wrong, this time, the whole world will blame us. And 18 years of preparation, money, and time will be a total waste. This Isolation Project is our country's last resort for peace. There is no room for error.
