A Rose In The Dark

Chapter 1

Roses POV

As i got in my car, the text message played over and over in her head "I'm sorry but its over.I found someone else" he wrote. After only two months, i was that easy to move on from and that easy to forget. I slammed the door shut to my white SUV and drove away from my work.I left a bit early and told my boss i was feeling sick but when really i needed to think. As i pulled onto the main road, i turned on the radio. "What hurts the most" by Rascal Flats was playing. Imagine that, i thought. What hurts the most,was being so close and having so much to say and watching you walk away.Just perfect.I thought to myself. As i turned down the radio, i reached in my bag and felt around until i grasped the little familiar bottle of pills. A "chill pill" would help me relax and calm my nerves, and probably keep me from killing the new girl if she was there. I slowly twisted off the cap and popped out a little pink pill. I set it between my lips and tasted the bitterness before swallowing it down with a big gulp of water. There, that should help, i said to myself. As i went to set the bottle back into my bag, a bump in the road caused me to drop the whole bottle of pills into the floor . Damn it! I can't get a refill on those, i yelled. With one hand on the wheel, i tried reached down and scooped up as many little pink pills i could see in the waning sunlight. I manged to grab them all in a couple of seconds.While i was twisting the cap back on and cursing under my breath, i failed to slow down to the up coming curve in the road. I was almost into town and almost to my house, but the semi truck that was coming the opposite direction, and didn't see the little white car cross the center line in time to avoid a collision.

**Across town at the fire station**

Firefighters POV

The ambulance tone and high pitched fire tone dropped at the same time. The medics groaned as they zipped up their boots, while the firemen raced down the hall to grab their gear. "Medic 2 and Jay first responders need you to respond to cross streets west main and first, that's west main and first. MVA involving vehicle and semi, be advised it's a head on collision with a roll over." The medics cursed as they got in the truck. "Medic 3, have us Life flight on stand by please" they told dispatch. "10-4"Medic 3 answered.

Roses POV

I was still awake and well aware about what just happened and i felt a sudden pain and warm liquid around my leg area and tried to look down but it gave me a bit of a headache and hurt so i quickly jolted my head up.I could hear the sirens.It was a good 15 minutes after the collision.The first to arrive was the fire truck,then the police then finally the ambulance. The loud sirens hurt my head and made my headache grow larger.I heard a couple of men talking about the car. I couldn't make it out because my headache kept pounding. It felt like someone had been drilling something into my head. The car was slowly rising and then the last thing i remember was a short man with his fireman suit on and he helped me out of the car and put me on a gurney a rolled me towards the ambulance and then they all lifted me and carefully placed me in ambulance.Then next thing you know i woke i in a hospital bed."Where am i" i said while rubbing my eyes. Assuming she was a nurse by her clothes,the lady looked up and smiled at me.She said "Glad to see you finally woke up"

She walked closer

,"Its been a while"

"How long?Like has it been?" i said confused.

She smiled and then looked down and said "About 5 and a half months"

My eyes shot open. "What how?"

"After your collision you went into a coma the moment you got the the hospital.Some people said you were dead but your little heart there never gave up. Not even once."

I closed my eyes and held my forehead then i leaned back slowly realizing what i have just been told.
