Chapter 7

I leave the doctor's office, and can barely focus on driving. I am just in a daze. In a matter of seconds, my life has been completely turned upside down. I'm pregnant? How could that be? I don't even love him! At least not anymore. Aww man, what am I going to do? How am I going to tell David? Kelly? Mom and Dad? How am I going to tell Chris? I can't tell him on our date. I mean, I'm only 9 weeks, so I can buy a little time until I start showing. I can hold Chris off til then. Heaven knows, I've already got enough on my plate. Pregnant. Wow. Well, I guess I'll start off with the easiest one, Kelly. She already knew anyway. She's waiting for my call, but she'll just have to come over. I can barely drive as it is, there is no way I am going to tell her over the phone. I just can't. How convenient, she is already parked in my driveway. I guess she caught the hint when I didnt call her. " Jaida! How are you sweetie?" Oh boy, here it comes. "Oh Kell, I knew it. I knew it, but I didnt want to acknowledge it. I can't believe it. I cant believe I'm pregnant!", I say as I break down in her arms. "What am I gonna do Kelly? How am I going to tell mom and dad that I let this happen? They'll be so disappointed." She hugs me tighter. "Oh Hana, I was afraid of this, but its already done. We're just going to have to deal with it. You know I'm with you all the way, no matter what. Now let's go inside and I'll make you some comfort food. I already have Riesen European Chocolate Cake, Doritos Locos Tacos Ranch and Nacho Flavor, Turtle Pie, and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, all your favorites right in the back of my car. You just go get undressed, and together we'll think of a way to tell mom and dad. Don't worry, everything will be fine." I'm smiling on the inside. Riesen European Chocolate Cake? Wow, she really does love me. As we chow down, we think of ways to break the news to my parents, and ways to break the ice afterwards. You know you have a real friend, when she is willing to eat junk food with you all day just to make you feel better. I know I can't hide this  from mommy and daddy forever, but I just can't face them today, so we decided to go tomorrow. 

~THURSDAY AFTERNOON~

"Hey, its gonna be okay.", says Kelsye out of nowhere. "Huh?", I say dumbfounded. "I know its bothering you, because you've been driving 2 miles an hour for the last 2 blocks. If the police were after us, they could definitely catch us. On foot. Relax Jaida, I'm sure your parents will understand. They love you, and only you can give them a grandchild, because you are their only child. Who knows, they could be thrilled. Okay, sure they won't be as thrilled about the father or the fact that you're not married, but that has nothing to do with the child. It can't pick its parents, remember? So stop worrying, its gonna be okay." I slowly pull up into the driveway. "Okay, here goes nothing." I think the baby is nervous and it doesnt even have feelings yet. *Knock* *Knock* "Who is it?", yells my mom. "Its your only child, and a friend coming to eat all your food and borrow money." Haha. "Oh, well no ones home, please come back later, beep." "Mom! Open the door.", I say with a push. "Hi baby, what brings you 2 by this early in the day? Come to bring me some good news? Kelly sweetie, how are you?" I think I'm going to puke. "Shes coming to bring something, but I don't know if its good.", Kelly says under her breath and I nudge her. "Yeah, something like that. Where's Dad? I need to talk to you guys. Its important. Daddy!", I call out to him. '"Hey sweetpea, I'll be down in just a sec. Hey, you brought Kelly over, hey sweetheart.", my dad says peeking out from their room. "Hey dad.", Kelly responds with a smile. "Sientate mija.", my mom waves us over to the sofa. Dad comes downstairs with chips and dip. I waste no time, as this baby is already hungry again. I wonder where the food goes, it doesnt even have a mouth. "Esta bien empezar a hablar.", my mom says wanting me to get right down to the point. "Mom, Dad, Please don't be upset with me." My mom and dad's eyes suddenly are focused on me with concern "Que es mi amor?" Suddenly I feel like this baby is going to come up if I dont say it right away, so here it comes."I'm pregnant. David is the baby's father. I was pregnant when he broke up with me, but didnt know it. Today the doctor confirmed it. I'm already 9 weeks along." The room fell silent for what seemed like forever. I broke down. I ran upstairs into the bathroom and shut the door. I couldn't bare to face anyone at that moment. Just as I was about to grab the knob, my mom knocked on the door. "Are you okay, mija?", "I don't know, don't hate me mom. I'm so sorry. I know you and daddy wanted me to be married. I'm so sorry." I was heartbroken. This was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life. "Oh mija, we don't hate you. Its just a big shock. I mean, our little baby is going to have a baby of her own. We love you mija. Ohana, remember? We're a family and families stick together. You have our first grandchild growing inside you, and we want to be a part of it. Even if David doesnt. Come out mija, come to mommy." I ran into her arms as if I hadn't seen her in years. "Oh my little girl, you're having a baby. I can't believe it. Oh sweetheart, I remember when I first found out we were going to have you, I was so joyed. You're mom and I had been together 8 years when you came along. It was the happiest time of our lives, and now you get to experience that for yourself. Don't worry about David and nothing else, we never needed him before, and we don't need him now. He has a right to know about the baby, but whatever he feels about it is his own right. You just remember that you have a whole team of people behind you that love you so much." I felt so safe wrapped up in my dads arms. I felt 5 years old again. "Thanks dad, I love you. I love you mommy." With that, Kelly and I left my parents house to go out to eat. We asked my parents if they would like to go, but they said they had just eaten. Well thats 3 down, 2 to go. 3 people was enough for one day, and I have a date tomorrow, so David will have to hold off until Saturday.
