After a few weeks, it was time to start working on the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Everything went smoothly until her part with Tom's character came up.
They were positioned right in front of each other. Tom had his blonde hair slicked back like Malfoy's and he had on his Quidditch outfit. Draco Malfoy had just finished bragging about his teams new brooms that his rich father had bought for them. Emma, as Hermione, walked up a bit closer to Malfoy. Emma clenched her fists and tried to get in character.
"At least no one on the G-Gryffindor team-m had to-" She stopped and wiped her sweaty palms on her clothes. "Sorry."
Tom smiled and encouraged her. "Just pretend we are actually the characters." He said, warmly. The director yelled action and she tried again.
"At least on the Quidditch t-team- ugh I'm sorry!" She felt so nervous she thought she'd explode. Rupert patted her back and told her his part is going to require him to throw up fake slugs.
"At least all you have to do is scold Malfoy and put him in his place." Rupert stated. Emma laughed. It's not like she's the first one to mess up, but she usually perfected her lines in one take. The producers even gave her the nickname of One-Take Watson. Dan was Do It Again Dan and Rupert was Re-do Rupert. Tom was Take-Two Tom.
They took a break before starting again. They all got in their positions.
"And... ACTION!"
"At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in. They got in on pure talent." Hermione retorted and smirked at Malfoy.
Emma silently applauded herself. Tom, Malfoy, walked up closer to her and narrowed his eyes. Emma got butterflies.
"No one asked your opinion, you filthy little mudblood!" Malfoy spat in her face. The camera turned back on Emma. As scripted, she had tears burning in her eyes. For Emma, that wasn't hard to do after seeing Tom talk to her that nasty. She knows he doesn't mean and it's all just acting, but it still hurt her a little. After Rupert did his scene, it was time for a scene in a different location.
Emma dried up her tears, which had continued falling after her scene, and went to drink water. Tom walked up to her. "Nice fake crying, Em! I wouldn't be able to do that on the spot. You're really talented." He smiled.
Emma was elated. She thanked him and complemented his acting as well. One week later, it was time to film the petrified Hermione scene. Emma had to stay still for hours while an artist sculpted her. She didn't return until the last scenes.
Filming this movie took two months, editing took four months. The cast had a lot of free time in those months. Emma hadn't seen any of her cast mates in months. She started feeling lonely. She was bored just doing her homework and trying to act like a normal student at her real life school.
Her classmates did constantly congratulate her on the first film and wishing her luck for the second one. They called her lucky several times and started treating her like a celebrity. Emma didn't like that, and she definitely wasn't a celebrity. She just wanted to go to her classes normally, like she used to. She figured the other child actors were dealing with the same treatment at school.
They were. It was another month and Emma was back in the company of Dan, Rupert, and the others. They talked about their break how much better going to Hogwarts would be than their actual "muggle" schools. They had plenty of laughs about what they'd do if they all actually attended Hogwarts together. The trio, Emma and Dan and Rupert, agreed that they'd be friends with Tom as long as he was nice. Tom also agreed.
The premiere for Chamber of Secrets was just as exciting as the one for Sorcerers Stone. If not, even more. There was twice as many people this time. Emma and Rupert had a laugh as Dan and Tom posed back to back in front of the cameras like Harry and Draco.
Emma and Tom spent a lot more time together this time. They sat together during the movie and spent the entire after party with each other. They also stood a lot closer than before. Tom had even put his arm around her when a paparazzi pointed their camera at them. She nuzzled her head into his neck and he pulled her closer. When the pap went away to find Dan, they didn't move.
They just began to sway slowly and continue to talk. Emma felt like something was going on between them and she was sure he felt the same way. It was about 11:30 pm when Emma and Tom walked, hand in hand, to a secluded place away from the crowd. Her cheeks reddening.
He turned to face her and smiled while looking into her eyes. "You look very pretty today." He complemented. Emma smiled even wider.
"Thank you. You look good, too." She responded, awkwardly. He pulled her closer and brushed her hair behind her ear. Emma felt as though she would melt right then and there. She noticed he was also blushing.
He looked toward the floor and then back at her. He opened his mouth to say something when Matthew walked in and said dessert is ready. Emma was suddenly overcome with anger. What was he about to say to her? Tom also looked a bit annoyed, but they walked together back out with everyone else.
So close, They both thought to themselves.
The party finished and they went to a nearby hotel. Emma bunked with Bonnie. Dan was with Rupert. Tom was with Matthew. Devon Murray, Seamus Finnegan, was with Alfred Enoch, Dean Thomas. She didn't pay attention to where everyone else went.
In their room, Emma and Bonnie bonded over their scenes in the second film. Bonnie asked her how it felt filming the scene with Tom's character. Emma was shocked at the question.
"Oh, um. It was okay. Kind of hard, though. I mean, he's my friend." She smiled, weakly.
"Yeah. I can't wait for the third movie!" Bonnie exclaimed.
"When are we going to start filming it?" Emma asked, eagerly. Bonnie didn't know and after a few more minutes of talking, they both fell asleep. The next day was the premiere for JK Rowling's new book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The whole cast got their own copies of the books and they all anxiously started reading it already. They were at Emma's again.
"Oh gosh!" Tom laughed with they got to the part of Malfoy being turned into a ferret.
"I can't wait for that scene." Emma said, teasingly.
"Well, you're going to have to wait probably two more years." Tom smiled.
Together, they all finished the book in less than a week.

Roman d'amourI always liked the idea that maybe Emma and Tom had gotten together during some of the Harry Potter years but kept it secret. Obviously, that most likely didn't happen. So this story is completely made up from my own imagination because I wanted to...
