December 3, 1998.

December 3 would turn out to be an utterly unusual day for Rubeus Hagrid. Before lunchtime, he experienced three extraordinary miracles. Each of them, which he knew, wouldn't usually happen every day. It was hard to comprehend how the three incidents could have occurred on the same day.

The first rarity took place already the moment he woke up, even though it was not one of the three, it was still a very important reminder for Hagrid. In fact, this day it would be only three days until his birthday. December 3 would also mean that it was three days closer to Christmas. Only the thought of it got him in a better mood, and it felt like it would stay that way for the rest of the day.

The moment he arrived in Hogsmeade, he would find that he had been completely wrong. His happiness didn't remain the same, because the person he then met said something that made him feel even better.

Charlie Weasley was the name of the wizard standing in front of him. He was on his way home for Christmas, and offered Hagrid a chance to visit his job in Romania. Charlie told him that this would be the last chance for him to see Norbert. By New Year Norbert would be set free in the wild with dragons of the same species in Norway. Charlie warned Hagrid that the dragon had grown slightly larger since the last time they saw each other, but assured him that he had learned Norbert proper manners. Hagrid did of course accept the offer at once, what would he not do for a chance to see Norbert again, his baby dragon?

Hagrid was overjoyed. Blinded by happiness, he was too thrilled to remember one very important detail. The second miracle was actually seeing an old friend again. For a moment he thought that the white owl flying in his direction was Harry's owl Hedwig. The very little detail he'd missed was that Hedwig was dead. Even after Hagrid accepted Hedwig's letter, he wouldn't let her leave before they'd had little small talk.

"Say hello to Harry from me, will ya'", laughed Hagrid as the owl flew away.

The third special happening was actually the message in the letter.

"Please help, M".
