Luna
December 5, 1998.
Dear Luna
It is absolutely crucial that you do not speak of this letter to anyone. The situation right now is quite tricky, and I am afraid there is not enough time to explain it in this letter. You may or may not be in danger. This letter had to be sent in haste, in concern for your safety. Such as the situation is, it is better if you and your father do not find yourselves alone exposed to whatever it may be that threatens your safety. You are more than welcome to stay at the Burrow, until threat is illuminated.
If you have not yet received a letter (which will be an important factor), you are most likely to do so anytime soon. Take the mentioned letter with you, while you burn this one. We hope to welcome you at the Burrow as soon as possible.
Sincerely your friends and family
Harry, Ron and Hermione had arranged small and private meeting that was located out on the lawn by the house. They had done what they could to escape the noise inside of the house, caused by Mrs. Weasley's loud and repeatedly bouts of worrying and concerning. The main theme among her concerns was the very noticeable lack of Fleur and Bill Weasley and their sudden disappearance.
Hermione read the letter she had just written for Luna out loud, and waited for Ron and Harry's approval.
"Are you sure she'll understand who it's from?" asked Harry, and opened Hedwig's cage to let her sit on his arm. He was struggling with the fact that they had to send her off again, so that she could deliver the rest of the messages. He wanted to spend the last few minutes with her, stroking her feathers and saying goodbye. They'd brought Hedwig outside with them in a cage, along with Ron's owl Pig. They were going to send Pig off with the letter to Luna, and Hedwig was hopefully flying back to whoever it was that had been sending out the anonymous messages. The weather was disappointingly warm for December 5, and the grass was dry enough for them sit on the ground and not get wet and cold.
"Who else has a Burrow?" replied Ron. He took Pig out of the cage and held him tight, so that he couldn't fly away before he was supposed to. Even though Ron's owl no longer was a child, one could not say that it was very controllable or good at taking commands.
"Let's just hope for the best. We can't risk writing our names in case it falls into the wrong hands," said Hermione as she attached Luna's letter to Pig's foot.
"Ready Harry?" asked Hermione as she turned to him. Harry nodded and got up, still with Hedwig sitting on his arm. At the same time, they sent the owls off on Hermione's command. Ron, Hermione and Harry watched them fly around each other in circles over their heads creating a beautiful pattern, before they greeted their friends goodbye and disappeared.
The moment Luna felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around only to find a former death eater casting a disarming spell at her, she started to regret the twenty minutes she could have spent escaping with her father, but instead had spent trying to figure out what to do. She made it from the couch over to the fireplace in time to throw the two letters in the fire, both the one from the Weasleys and the one with the secret message. As she felt the death eater grab onto her arm and dragging her with him as he disapparated, she remembered the message; "please help," "S"
