Johanna Mason's Hunger Games

Games day 3

Luke's P.O.V
I look over at Johanna and smile. She is so sweet I really hope that if I don't make it home she will. I didn't wake her last night to go on watch even though I promised because she didn't get any sleep the night before. I didn't want her to be tired for today.

After another hour or so I see Johanna open her eyes slowly. Once she has adjusted to being awake she turns to me and says, "you were supposed to wake me, you promised"

"I know but you looked so peaceful," I say. She just groans. After a few minutes of just sitting there in silence Johanna says, "we should try and find water again" I nod and we pack up all of our stuff. we decide to walk towards the winter part of the arena. After a few hours of walking we finally reach it. We have now pulled out all of our winter gear and put it on. It is so cold. "Let's grab a whole bunch of snow and get out of here," Johanna says "ok," I respond. After discussing for a little while we decide to fill our bags with snow and carry the rest of our supplies in our hands.
We walk towards the desert climate so that we can melt the snow. When we get there we put some snow in each of our water bottles and set it out in the sun to melt it. "We need more food, weapons and basic supplies like matches or water bottles," Johanna says "Well what should we do?" I ask "I say we raid the careers camp tonight when they are all off hunting," she says "sounds like a plan" I say. By now the snow has melted. Johanna and I take big gulps of water then fill the bottle with more snow. Luckily our backpacks keep heat or coldness in, so the snow won't melt.

Johanna and I wait in the desert until nightfall. Once we are sure they would be gone we head out towards the cornucopia. After walking for roughly 25 minutes we reach it. "I'll go first," Johanna says "what no," I say running behind her. As we near the mouth of the cornucopia we make sure that nobody it there then we quickly start to gather supplies. Anything we see we grab. Just as Johanna tells me we have grabbed enough I feel a sharp pain in my stomach area. I look down and see an arrow in my stomach. I drop to the ground. "NO," Johanna screams. "Jo-Joh-Johanna," I say "behind you" she quickly turns and looks just as an arrow comes flying at her. She ducks just in time. She chucks an axe she had grabbed at a boy who must have been hiding waiting for the right moment to strike. As soon as she is sure he is dead she sprints over to me. "Luke please no," she says crying. "Please win, for me," I say Johanna just starts crying louder. My vision starts to go blurry. Everything is getting brighter. The last thing I hear is Johanna saying, "I love you."

Johanna's P.O.V
BOOM I hear Luke's cannon go off "NO" I scream and cry at the same time. He can't be dead. This is all a dream I think to myself. Wake up Johanna. I soon realize that this is not a dream. I kiss Luke on the cheek then back away when I see a hovercraft coming to pick up his body to bring back to his family. I fall to the ground and start crying. I have to win, I think to myself, for Luke. I walk over to the boy who killed Luke. I grab my axe from out of his body then walk away towards the forest.

I climb up at tree and try to get some sleep. I can't. I keep thinking that this is my fault. Why did I have to suggest that we get more supplies? Why did I not protect him better? Before I can blame myself for anything else the anthem starts to play. I see the boy from 2 who I killed face pop up then the girl from 5 and then I see Luke's face. I start to quietly cry to myself. Two more people show up after Luke. The girl from 8 and the girl from. After I calm down I try to get some sleep. It takes me along time but I finally fall to sleep.
