I sat down on my best friend Katy's couch.

"Is anyone ever going to show up to this party?" I said and made air quotes when I said 'party'.

"Patience is a virtue my friend." She said and smiled.

"It's not one of mine." I mumbled.

I leaned my head back against the back of the couch and closed my eyes. I heard the doorbell ring a few minutes later. Katy sprinting towards the door.  When she opened the door I nearly gagged. It was the boy I hated most.

Alex Walker.

He didn't really do anything to me, he was just one of those people who kind of annoyed you by being in your presence. He and Katy talked for couple of seconds and he walked into the living room. He sat next to me and I moved to the other end of the couch. He gave me a funny look.

"I'm claustrophobic. You were breathing my oxygen. Nothing personal." I said and crossed my legs.

He nodded. Katy walked in with her cell phone in her hands. She sat down in the chair across from the couch and we sat in silence.

"I don't think anyone else is going to show up." I finally said.

"Yeah, I think you might be right." She said and looked around the room.

"Oh!" She exclaimed making me jump a little.

She clasped her hands together and her eyes lit up.

"I got a pair of hand cuffs and the thrift store the other day. And I've been dying to try them out on someone." She said and stared at me and Alex.

"Oh hell no." I said sat on my hands.

"Please..." She begged and stuck out her bottom lip.

"Do you have the key?" I asked and she nodded.

"Okay, fine. But only for a couple of minutes." I said.

"Yes!" She exclaimed and ran up the stairs.

Alex and I sat in silence. She came back down the stairs a couple of minutes later.

"Okay, Emily give me your left hand and Alex give me your right hand." She said and we both stuck our arms out.

She slapped them on our wrists.

"I've always wanted to do that!" She said and smiled.

She made sure they were on tightly.

"Okay, you done yet?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, I guess." She said and dug the key out of her pocket.

She got it and put it in the locket and struggled with it for a second, then jiggled it.

"What's wrong?" I asked panicking slightly.

"Don't kill me but..." She said and exhaled.

"But?!" I yelled and she cringed.

"But the key isn't working." She said.

"Make it work! I can't be attached to him!" I yelled and she tried the key again.

"Sorry, it's not working!" She yelled back at me.

"Well, get a saw and cut these things off!" I said trying to squeeze my hand through the hole but she had them on too tight.

"We don't have a saw!" She said.

I looked over at Alex and he didn't really seem to care that he was attached to me.
