Kelly and Cheryl had just sat down in their seats on the airplane that would take them to Pennsylvania to see Ellington. Kelly pulled out her phone to send a quick text to her boyfriend.

Your mom and I are on our way. We're taking off in 15. We'll be there ASAP- I love you so much baby.

She turned to Cheryl and saw that she was looking out the window. She put her hand on her arm and she turned to look at her. "He's going to be just fine, you know."

Cheryl gave a small smile. "I know. There's just nothing worse than knowing your child is sick and you're on the other side of the country. You worry 100 times more than you should." She paused and put her hand over Kelly's. "You'll know how that is one day." she said with a smile.

"One day." Kelly couldn't help but smile. She and Ellington had talked about getting married and having children plenty of times before. Of course, it wouldn't be for awhile because she was working on her art career, and with R5 getting more famous by the day, it was a smart idea to wait until things settled down a bit, and they were both ready. For now, they were just enjoying each others company, and they were just as in love as when they had first started dating.

Once they were in the air, Kelly took out her headphones. She plugged her headphones into her phone and listened to music to pass the time. Cheryl had fallen asleep, leaving Kelly to her music and her thoughts. When "Look At Us Now" by R5 came on her shuffle--she had a CD of all their old songs that Ellington had given her on their 2 year anniversary-perks of dating the drummer--she leaned her head back against the seat and thought about everything that they had been through and how much she truly did love him and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

She must have fallen asleep because when she opened her eyes, the sun was higher in the sky and it was a lot brighter. Cheryl looked over and noticed she was awake. "Good morning! We're landing in about 10 minutes."

"What time is it?" she asked, stretching her arms out.

"Around 2 in the afternoon."

"Wow, okay. Do you know how far the hospital is from the airport?"

"I think it's only about a 20 minute drive. I'll text Stormie when we're there so I know exactly."

"Alright cool." she said, unplugging her headphones and getting herself situated for when they land. She curled up against the seat and closed her eyes until they landed. She wasn't trying to sleep, she was just preparing herself for seeing her boyfriend sick.

Once they landed and got off the plane, Stormie texted Cheryl and said that someone was on their way to pick them up. They got their luggage and met Mark, Rydel, Ross, and Ryland at their terminal. They all exchanged hugs and the first thing Kelly could say was "How is he?" Now that they had landed and were on their way to the hospital, it was becoming a reality that the love of her life was laying in a hospital bed.

Rydel answered her question, "He's doing well. The tests came back, and nothing was wrong--thank God. They're giving him antibiotics through an IV, and he only has to use the breathing mask occasionally. So he's doing a lot better than he was this morning."

For whatever reason, this worried Kelly even more. She was glad that he was doing better, but she didn't know if she could handle seeing him have to breathe through a mask. Despite her fears, she answered, "That's good." And grew silent.

Rydel could tell how worried she was and felt sympathetic towards her. "Kelly, he's fine. Really. He's making friends with the staff making everyone laugh."

"Typical Ratliff." she said, laughing.

They parked in the hospital parking lot and Cheryl and Kelly followed the Lynch's inside. Kelly grasped her future mother-in-laws hand. She was thankful when she responded by squeezing her hand tightly. She was pretty close to a mother figure, and Kelly needed the support.

When the elevator doors opened, they revealed the waiting room, where Stormie sat waiting for them. She stood up and hugged the two newest members of the gang and smiled brightly.

"I'm so glad you're here." Stormie said. "I know it means a lot to him."

"Where is he?" Kelly asked. She didn't mean to be rude or harsh, but the closer she knew where he was, the closer she could hug him.

"Right this way." Stormie said as she started walking down a nearby hallway. The rest of the Lynch's stayed in the waiting room while Cheryl and Kelly followed.

Kelly was still holding Cheryl's hand tightly. Her throat got tight as she walked around the nurses station and passed more rooms.

Stormie stopped outside of a door. "Even though he's doing better, he's still really sick. He's acting like nothing is bothering him, but he still looks really sick. I just wanted to warn you so you don't worry when he looks a little different."

The two women nodded. Stormie walked into the room first and went to stand by Riker who was standing in the far corner. Rocky was sitting in a chair next to the bed, but got up when he saw Kelly. He went over and hugged her.

"I'm sorry for having to tell you over the phone, Kelly. But I'm glad you're here." he said as he pulled away.

She nodded and went to sit beside her boyfriend's bed. He was sleeping, and had a breathing mask over his nose and mouth. She grabbed his hand with both of hers and kissed it. She was close to tears and felt her throat get tight again.

Rocky had just got done saying hello to Cheryl, who was standing at the foot of his bed, and looked over to see how Kelly was doing. He noticed her glossy eyes and knew she wanted to cry.

"He doesn't need the mask," he started. Kelly looked at him. "He can breathe fine without it. It's just a precaution in case he starts coughing and needs it."

She nodded and moved to brush a piece of his hair off of his forehead. She nodded silently and the first of her tears fell. "It just hurts to see him look so sick." Her voice cracked, showing how deeply she was hurting.

Rocky's heart broke for her. There was nothing he could say to make her feel better. But there was no doubt in the world that she was in love with him. Sure, they always joked around and laughed. They didn't always show affection towards each other. But when it came down to it, they loved more than any other cliché movie couple. Their love wasn't scripted. It was real.
