The next morning when everyone woke up, they ate breakfast and hung around in the trailers before they had to get ready to go to the venue for sound check. Riker, Rocky, and Ross were playing Halo, and Kelly was doing Rydel’s nails for the performance tonight in Hello Kitty. Rydel got to pick the color tonight and--of course-- she picked pink. Ellington sat next to Kelly and watched her every move. He was so amazed by how well they came out!

There was a knock on the door before Ryland, Stormie, Cheryl and Mark walked in.

“Hi mom!” Rydel greeted.

“Hello sweetie.” Stormie smiled at her daughter before turning and speaking to everyone else. “Alright, we are all leaving to go to the venue to make sure everything is on track for tonight. Ellington, I want you to go lay in your bunk until we come back. Take a nap, read, I don’t care what you do, just relax.”

“Yes ma’am.” he agreed.

“Boys.” Stormie said to her three sons playing video games.

“Yeah mom.” Rocky said, not looking away from the screen.

There was silence until Riker paused the game and turned around to look at his mom.

“Don’t be playing games all day, okay?”

“Okay,” Riker said before going back to the game.

“Alright, we shouldn’t be gone longer than 2 hours.” Ryland said walking towards the door.

“Okay have fun! Drive safe!” Kelly called out.

Cheryl walked over to Rydel and Kelly. “Be safe. And watch him.” She said pointing to her son.

“Umm, mom?” he said looking up at her. “I’m sitting right here.”

“I know that. But I need to let the girls know to make sure that you’re not doing anything you shouldn’t be doing.”

“I don’t need babysitters-” he started to complain.

“That’s enough Ellington. You’re still my little boy so I still need to look out for you.” she leaned down and kissed the top of his head.

“Thanks mom.” he said smiling.

“Don’t worry Momma Ratliff,” Rydel said. “We’ll make sure he takes it easy.”

“Thanks girls.” she said smiling before turning and following Mark and Ryland out of the trailer.

“Guys,” Stormie reminded. “Be sure you are all dressed and ready to leave before we get back.”

You would think that would have been a given, but you never knew with these guys.

“Bye guys.” Ryland said, sticking his head in the door and waving.

A series of “Bye Ryland” and “Bye Ry” ‘s were said before they all left, closing the door behind them.

Kelly had just finished Rydel’s nails when Ratliff remembered that he had to take his antibiotics. As he stood up, Rydel asked where he was going.

“To take my meds and lay down.” he said explaining himself. “Is that okay?”

“Well of course.” she responded.

Ratliff curtsied before walking to the kitchen.

The girls laughed and Rydel said, “Your boyfriend is hilarious.”

“Yeah, he’s a charmer, that’s for sure.” She agreed.

They laughed some more before launching into talking about the latest movie coming out.
