Remember Me...
Chapter 13: Baby
Zayn's POV
"Niall? Niall wake up," Harry said, gently shaking Niall, trying to get him to wake up. He'd been asleep on the couch, but he was up all night. He only fell asleep early this morning.
He sighed and rolled over. "Go away."
"No. We have a concert tonight, which means we have a rehearsal and a sound check. You're part of this band too, so you better get your lazy arse off that couch, stop moping around and eating everything, just because your girlfriend, who isn't really your girlfriend, moved out."
Niall sat up. "Harry, you are the biggest ass ever. What the hell do you mean, she isn't my girlfriend?"
"You've never asked her out in almost three months, the night you got in the car accident, you two sort of called it off. That's why all of this happened!"
Niall got up off the couch, and at first, I thought he was going to hit Harry. But he just moved aside, and went upstairs to get ready.
"Well played," I said to Harry, patting him on the back. "But you sort of were a jerk."
"Yeah. Thanks, Zayn."
Bella's POV
I woke up, and the house was silent. It was 1:30pm, and mom was still asleep. I sighed, not wanting to get up. I dozed for a few minutes, but my phone woke me up. "Bella? Hey, we're going out for a bite to eat at about five o'clock, then the boys have a concert tonight. You in?"
"Good morning to you too, Bee. And no, I'm not in."
"Too bad, because Eleanor found this really cute top and its you're size. It matches the hot scarf Dani found for you, and those light blue skinny jeans that you have."
"Well, I'll just have to wear it some other time," I sighed.
"Well, we're all standing outside your house, so-"
"Wait, what?" I said.
"We are standing outside your house, so-"
"Again, what? Why?"
She sighed. "We are all standing outside of you're house. To help you get ready for the concert, do a little bit of shopping, get something to eat, then go to a concert. Anymore questions?"
"Yeah, how often do you guys have to go shopping?" I laughed.
"I don't even know, but open the door, it's a little cold out here."
"I'm in my pajamas, I just woke up. Can you come back later?" I asked, walking down the stairs.
Bee knocked on the door, and yelled. "Open the door! No, we can't come back later, because its almost two, and we all still have to get ready, and apparently go shopping, and get dinner. So, hurry up."
I gave up and opened the door. "Aw! Thanks! It's been so long, what's knew."
"Nothing much, actually."
"Well," Cae said. "Niall's all depressed because you left. So is Bridget, don't get me wrong. But Niall eats and sleeps, that's about it."
"And farts," Bee added.
"Yes, Bridget, we all know he farts."
I gave them a weak smile. "Well, my mom is still asleep. So lets just bring all your stuff up to my room."
The brought their clothes and makeup and hair products, and dumped it all on the floor of my bedroom. "Cool place," Cae said.
"Wait, so how did you know where I lived?" I asked them.
"We didn't. Bee knew the area, and we knocked on like, five doors looking for you. Your neighbor told us where you lived," Dani said.
"Lovely. I can so picture all of you doing that."
Bee curled my hair, while I straightened El's. Dani was doing Cae's makeup. We looked like a whole bunch of grade eights, getting ready for prom or something. "So," Dani said, when she finished Cae's makeup. "Bella, we went shopping earlier this week. We were going to give all this to you as a late birthday present, so, here."
The was a bag, and inside was a bunch of clothes. Red, orange, and mint green skinny jeans. Blouses, tanks, tees and a pair of shoes. Also a few pairs of earrings and necklaces.
"Aw, thanks guys. This is great. But you'll have to help me pick out what I'm going to wear tonight."
There was a knock on the door. "Come in!" I shouted.
Mom appeared in the door. "Good afternoon," she laughed.
"Hey," I said. "I'm going to a concert tonight, is that okay?"
She smiled. "Of course."
"Thanks, mom."
She smiled again, and closed the door.
"It's good to see you and your mom getting along," El said, as I finished straightening her hair.
"She only said yes because you guys are here. I mean, I'm nineteen years old. In some countries, I'm allowed to drink now. Man, I should have a house of my own. But she's so protective."
"Bella," Cae said. "You're all she has. She's lost everyone that you have, too. Your brother, dad, grandparents."
"I know," I sighed. "But, it's weird."
It was silent for a minute, which made things awkward. "How about we listen to some music?" El turned on the radio. But we all acted different after that conversation.
"I forgot how loud these concerts are," I said, holding my hands up to my ears. I got that feeling of anxiousness again.
"I know, the boys won't be on for another good half hour," Cae said.
I sighed. "It's better then unpacking boxes on a Saturday night."
Caelyn laughed. "I guess so."
We got to our seats, which were a couple rows back from the front. There were no really tall people in front of me. I wasn't the tallest person in the world. But hey, what's wrong with being short?
Bee, Cae and I talked for a bit, before the stage lights went everywhere, started to flicker.
I sighed and sat back in my chair. I didn't even want to be there. I mean, yeah, it was good to support the boys. But I've been to five of their concerts in the past six months, and they haven't come out with a knew CD yet. It's just the oldies over and over again. Ha. Over again. You see what I did there?
The opened with Live while we're young. Surprise surprise.
But the girls were right. Niall did seem a little down.
I tapped Bee's shoulder. "Bee, they do answer Tweets, right?"
She nodded. "Yeah."
I smiled.
******
"I picked my favourite tweet," Liam said into his mic, as they were answering Tweets. "You guys are amazing, love from all your fans." The tweet appeared on the screen above them. The name was rockmenialll. With three 'L's. it slightly bothered me. But he's a popstar. Every one of them gets hate and love.
Harry read his, and I relaxed. "From Isabella_JWilliams94_.'Hey guys, long time no see, eh? Good luck tonight, love from all of us xxx."
Harry read my username as 'Isabella underscore J Williams 94 underscore.' Then, he said, "I remember when we created your twitter account for you, Isabella!" He laughed. "Where are you?"
The girls and I started yelling and cheering, and one of the stage lights lit up all around us. At the same time the lights lit up, so did Niall's face. He smiled a big goofy smile, like a little kid would.
Later, the started the second part of they're concert with 'Kiss You.' I sang along, and hummed the parts I didn't know.
When the concert was through, we waited a little before we could go backstage to see the guys. I was pretty excited, because the look on Niall's face when he was me was great.
Security let us back, and Harry and Zayn came out the their dressing room to greet us. "Great concert, as usual," Bee said.
"Thanks, babe," Zayn replied, kissing her.
Louis came out of the dressing room with Liam and Niall.
"Hey," Dani said. "We wanted to see you before we went back home. You guys will be late again, won't you?"
"Probably," Liam said. "We have to grab something to eat."
"Hey," I said to Niall. "You were amazing."
"I had my good luck charm," he winked.
I smiled and blushed for a second, but then I remembered. 'You're my good luck charm.' He said that to me. About a year ago. On their other tour. "Wait, what?"
"Is that okay? I feel like you're my good luck charm. I need you with me, or else my performance won't be any good."
I smiled. "I love it."
He brought his face closer to mine, and at first, he was going to kiss me. He stopped, though, and pulled away. I kissed his cheek.
He smiled. "I'll see you soon."
"Bye."
Third Person POV
Maya sat on the kitchen floor, looking through photo albums. There wasn't any photos. Just empty pages.
No family vacations, trips to the beach, picnics. Nothing.
She unpacked more boxes. It had been almost four weeks since they'd moved in. But things were going slow.
As she unpacked the boxes, she had this strange feeling.
Like she was being watched.
She looked around. The only light was coming from the living room, but it lit up the whole kitchen.
She looked out the window, but it was too dark to see anything. Or anyone. But that feeling didn't go away.
Bella's POV
"Ah! Bella! You kissed his cheek!" El screamed when we got to the car. Three of us squished in the backseat. They drove me home.
"Yeah, it was weird. But good."
She laughed. "Aw. This is a better love story than Twilight."
"Have you read that book?" Cae asked.
The went on and on about Twilight, and how hot Taylor Lautner looked. "Um, your boyfriends a celebrities," I tried to tell them. But the still rambled on and on.
"I'll see you guys soon!" I called, as I shut the car door, and ran up the driveway. It was only a short driveway, since we lived in a town house.
"Hello?" I yelled when I walked inside.
"Hi, Bella!" Mom called from the living room. She was watching some TV show.
"Goodnight!"
I went up to my room, and into the bathroom that attached to my room. I locked the door, and ran the bathtub. The hot water felt good against my skin as I lowered myself down to the tub.
It felt good to relax, and just think about things. Sometimes, it bothers me when I have nothing on my mind. Other times, I love it.
I didn't remember a lot about my dad. I can only remember things that happened. That were big. When he got a girlfriend, (which didn't last very long) and the day I was told he was dead.
That night, after the accident, a lady from the children's orphanage came and collected me and my stuff, and took my bad to my home which I'd be living in for two years. I was going to lie, it was scary. Not knowing where you'll end up? Not the greatest feeling in the world.
After my bath, I tucked myself into my bed. I tried my best to get to sleep.
But something didn't feel right. In my gut, I felt this tug. A little voice in my head, telling me that something was going to go wrong. I ignored it though. But I regretted it later.
******
"Bella! Wake up!" Mom screamed. She shook my awake. "Baby we have to get out of here!"
I sat up in bed, trying to figure out what was wrong. It didn't take me long though, because I could smell it. The smell of smoke.
"Mom, get out of here."
She looked at me, waiting for me to move as well. I got up, and she went out the bedroom door, and downstairs.
It happened so fast, and didn't really register in my mind that the house was up in flames. My phone was in my pants pocket, buzzing like crazy. I ignored it, and tried to find my way out.
The smoke was heavy in the kitchen, and it filled my lungs. The front door was blocked. It scared me. To see the fire there, burning the stuff we owned. "Mom?!" I screamed. "Mom, where are you?!" I didn't want to leave the house without her. I'd lost too many people in my life for that to happen again.
"Bella." She came running towards me, so fast I didn't even see her coming. She shook me. "We have to get out of here."
"Mom, I was looking for you!"
The fire was spreading. I figured the house would just burn to a crisp. Mom hustled me towards the back door.
"Mom! The lock is stuck!" I yelled, struggling with the door handle. It was hot already from the fire.
"Come on." She grabbed my hand, and went to the last door. The side door, which lead into the backyard. At first, she struggled with that one too. But she got it open eventually, and we got out.
The cold March evening air got to me quickly. I tried my best to ignore my teeth chattering. But it was hard when you're
standing there in a t-shirt and gym shorts.
The fire trucks arrived a few minutes later.Three other small cars pulled up a few houses down, and I could just make out the ten figures: Five boys, five girls. And one Paul, of course.
My mom took me into the neighbors house, before I had gotten to say anything to the others.
Our neighbor made me feel I leaned up against the window, watching mom's house burn. It all happened so fast, it took a while for me to understand what was actually happening, and that it wasn't a dream.
Niall and Harry stood across the street, along with Zayn. Niall looked horrified, and Zayn tried to calm him down.
"Mom. I'll be right back."
"Bella," mom said. "It's best if you stay here."
"Mom. Let me go."
"Bella, you are to stay here, please." She sounded a bit more frustrated. But what surprised me is that she wasn't crying or freaking out about her new house.
"Mom, I have to go."
I walked out the door, ignoring her calling after me. The neighbor's house made me a little uncomfortable. She was a single old women, with thirteen cats. Her house smelt a bit like moth balls. It wasn't very pleasant, and it was the last place I wanted to me right now.
I ran past all the fire trucks that were parked in our driveway. It was hard to see, and some of the street lights didn't work. But I felt someone hugged my leg, and it was Lexi.
I picked her up in my arms and hugged her. "I'm okay," I said.
She was crying. "Your house is burning!"
"Sh. I know. It's okay."
"But it's your brand new house!"
"Shhh. Where is everybody?"
"Bella!" Caelyn yelled, before Lexi could answer my question.
I turned and let Lexi down. I waited until Caelyn and El got to us. "Hey. What's new?"
"Don't."
They hugged me. "I'm fine. I'm still here, so it's all good."
I hugged Niall. His arms were wrapped around me, and all I want to do was just stay there. It hurt. He didn't remember any of the times where it felt so good to hold me. So I cried. I cried for what happened that New Year's Eve, and for what happened that night.
He ran his fingers through my hair. I cried, holding him tighter.
"I might have to move back in with you guys for a while," I sniffled.
He tried to laugh a little. "Good."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Kelly called right when I was heading out the door. "Hello?" I said, getting the phone.
"Bella. How's everything?"
"It's okay. We're doing good."
It was about a week after the fire. Kelly called in almost every day. I moved back in with the boys, and El and Dani, of course. They told mom she could stay in the guest room apartment, but she stayed with a friend for a little.
"My due date changed. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. May thirteenth."
"Whoa. It changed by a lot. That's in less than two months."
"Yeah. Well, I'm about seven months along. So it's about right."
"Listen, I have a meeting with mom and some other people. It's about the fire. But I'll call again."
"Yep, I just wanted to see how you were making out. Love you, sweetheart."
"Love you too. Goodbye."
I hung up the phone, and mom blared the car horn. "I'm coming!"
I got into the passenger's side. "What took you so long?" Mom asked.
"Kelly called," I answered. "Her due dates May 13th now."
"Bella."
"What?"
"What's that on your arm?" She pointed down to my wrist.
"It's a tattoo. Prometo."
"What does it mean?"
"I promise."
"Italian?"
"No, Spanish." I found it weird that she didn't say anything about Kelly.
Caelyn's POV
I woke up, looked at the clock. Nine thirty. And Bella was already gone.
Everyone, except for Bridget and Bella, were still asleep.
Bee was in the bathroom, I knocked to ask how long she was going to be.
"Cae," she opened the door. "I need you."
"I can see that you've been... Sick.." I said.
"Caelyn, I have to tell you something."
But it was all adding up now. She was sick in the morning like this for a few days now. The first one, I thought it was a hangover. Second, maybe a bug. But third, it was weird.
"Bee," I said. "You're not..."
But all I needed was the look on her face, which gave me the answer.
"Don't tell anyone."
"I won't," I told her, half shocked myself.
Bella's POV
"We're on our way home," I said into the phone. "What's wrong, Bee?"
"I just need you," she sniffled.
"Okay. I'll be home soon."
She hung up, and I put my phone back in my pocket. I looked at my mom. "Mom, are you okay?"
"Bella. No."
The insurance company said that because it was a new house, we didn't have insurance coverage. They wouldn't cover the cost of rebuilding.
The police, however, had started to think that the fire wasn't accidental. Which explains why I felt like someone was watching me, if that was the case.
"I know it's bad now, mom. But things will get better."
"It won't. We don't have a house. Your maniac uncle tried to kill you, dammit. Things are getting worse."
"Why does he want me killed?"
"Honey, if I knew, I'd tell you. I don't know."
My emotions were running high. Same with mom (if it wasn't obvious), and something was wrong with Bee.
Mom pulled up in the driveway and let me out. "I'll see you later," she called out as I shut the door. I gave her a little wave, and went inside the house.
The house looked normal. The guys were working, and it looked like the girls were still asleep. Though, I heard El calling me.
"Bella! We need you! It's Bridget!"
I dropped my bag and ran upstairs. They were all in Bridget's room.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Bridget's been in there for half an hour, and she won't come out," Dani said.
"Is that where she called me from?" I asked.
"Yeah, she has her phone. She won't come out."
"Bee," I said, tapping on the door. "I'm here! Can you open the door?"
"No," she said, crying.
"Bridget? What's wrong."
"It's nothing, just leave."
"It's obviously something. You told me to come home, so I did. Just for you."
There was silence, and a rattling noise. She unlocked the door.
There we were, all five of us, sitting in the bathroom. Dani and Cae were sitting on the edge of the tub, me, El and Bee on the floor.
"Cae knows," she said, tucking her feet up.
"Knows what?" Dani asked.
Caelyn and Bridget exchanged looks. "Bee, you have to tell them."
We were all quiet, and we waited for Bee to say something. But she just cried, and I hugged her.
"Don't cry," I said.
She held up a little white stick, with a pink plus sign. "Oh my gosh," El gasped.
"Don't cry," I repeated.
"How far along are you?"
"weeks. And I didn't even know. Is that even possible?"
"Bee," I said. "Those things are never right."
"But Bella," she sniffled. "This is the fifth one. It can't be wrong five times."
I just looked at her. "Zayn, right?"
She nodded. "Who else would it have been?"
I sighed. "I don't know. Sorry."
She just nodded. Dani asked, "does he know?"
"No. I just found out."
"But you've only been sick in the mornings for like-"
"A few weeks. Yeah. I didn't think that much of it. But I'm scared, guys."
We sat in silence for a moment. "Well," I said. "The first thing we do, is tell Zayn. Then, we find out how long you've been carrying that thing, for sure."
"The boys will be back around one," Cae said.
"Well," I said. "What time is it?"
"Uh-"
"HELLOOOO?" We could here Louis coming in the door from all the way downstairs.
Bee cried harder. "I'm scared, guys."
"It's okay."
El, Dani and Cae went downstairs.
"Please don't tell him!" Bee begged.
"The won't. But you have to."
She sniffled. "I know."
"Bee," I said. "Do you know... When.. This happened?"
"Yeah."
"Okay," I said, moving on from that awkward question. "When Zayn finds out, we'll take you to the doctor."
"Bella. I don't want to have a baby."
I always wondered what it would be like to be a mother. To carry around another body inside you for nine months, then bringing a new life in this world. "You'll have your own little baby.. It'll be okay."
Bee and I walked downstairs. "Hey," she said.
"Hey baby," Zayn said, kissing her. She smiled when he pulled away, and wrapped her arms around him.
"Zayn," she said. "We need to talk."
He nodded. "Okay."
Bridget's POV
We sat on the couch in the living room, away from everyone. Zayn pulled my on top of him, and kissed me. His warm lips left a tingling feeling against mine, as I pulled away. "Zayn."
"Bridget."
"Zayn, I have to tell you something," I said. I even sounded nervous to myself.
"I'm listening," he said, kissing my face.
"Zayn. You really have to pay attention. Because this is really important to both of us. And you have to promise me that you won't freak."
"Okay," he said, holding my hand. "I'm listening. I'm here."
"Zayn... I.." I couldn't find the right words. Telling the girls, it was so simple. "Zayn. I'm.. I'm pregnant."
His face softened. He smile sort of faded a bit. "Oh no," he said. His eyes were deep.
"Zayn, I'm pregnant, with your baby."
He didn't say anything. Just looked at me. I was scared of what he was going to say.
He put one of his hands on my stomach. "Well, then. Hello there, little baby."
I laughed. "Zayn."
"It's nice to meet you. I'm... I'm your dad."
I laughed again. "You're not upset?"
"Upset? Bridget, how could I be upset? You should be the one that's upset."
"Believe me, been there done that."
He frowned. "I'm so sorry. It's my fault. I.. I don't know how to explain how sorry I am. I just can't believe I let this happen-"
"Zayn. Stop. You're only stressing yourself out. Stop it."
"Are you going to keep it?" He asked.
"Yes, Zayn. I'm going to be a mom."
He smiled. "Good."
"But how will this work for you?" I asked.
"We'll find a way," he said. "We will."
Bella's POV
We were sitting around the kitchen, when Bee and Zayn came back from talking. It looked like Zayn took it pretty well, actually.
"We have an announcement," Zayn said. He looked at Bee, when he had everyone's attention.
"You tell them," Bee said, her face already red.
"Bee's pregnant. We're going to have a baby."
It was quiet for a second, and the girls started to clap.
"How did this happen I wonder," Harry said, joining in on the clapping. Zayn and Bee both blushed.
We made a doctor's appointment a little later, then spent the rest of the day hanging out around the house.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I went with Bee to her doctor's appointment. We sat in the office, waiting for her name to be called. "How far along did you think you were?" I asked Bee.
"I don't know, four weeks? But what if I'm like, two months?" She said, sounding worried.
"Relax, Bridget. You aren't two months yet. You'd be way more pukey and hormonal."
She laughed. "Thanks."
"Well, it's true. I could pick you up a book if you'd like. 'You're pregnant- so what now?' I heard of that once."
She laughed again, then the doctor came out for her. "Bridget?"
We got up, and went into the small room. "Hello, Bridget. How are we feeling today?"
'Pregnant', I almost answered for her. "Good."
"Good. So, I guess you're expecting."
Duh.
The doctor went on and on, asking Bee questions. I sat there patiently, but it was getting boring.
Eleanor's POV
We were all sitting at the table, eating lunch. Zayn looked down at his plate the whole time. "So," I said.
"I'm going to be a dad."
Oh, so he speaks. "Yeah, Zayn. You're going to be a dad."
This was all so new to him, even though its been about a week. "Wow. That'll be weird."
"Just don't say that around Bridget," Caelyn said.
"Zayn," Lexi said, in her four, soon to be five, year old voice. "How are babies made?"
Zayn blushed. "A magical fairy comes, when everyone's asleep, and waves their magic wand, and poof! You're pregnant."
"Ha," Dani said. "Ha. Ha ha. Ha."
"Oh," Lexi said. "Because everyone says that they come from pumpkins. I mean, that's just stupid."
"Ha ha yeah," Zayn said nervously.
After our awkward conversation, Bella and Bee came home. "Hey," Zayn said. "How'd it go."
"We got books," Bella said, dumping them on the table. "Some of them are for you."
"Joy."
Bee sat in a chair, and we all looked at her. Her eyes were shut, but she said, "stop looking at me. I'm pregnant, so get used to it, because I'm going to be so big, I won't be able to fit through the doorway."
"You won't be that big," Zayn said.
"Bet you five," she said.
"You're on."
Bella's POV
I left everyone downstairs, and escaped to my room. I sprawled out on my bed. I was only alone for a few minutes, when there was a knock on my door. I sighed, quietly. "Come in."
The door opened, and Niall came in. "Hey there, just wanted to know if you were okay."
I smiled. "Come here."
He came and sat on my bed. "But really, are you okay."
I lay back down. "Sort of. I'm kind of freaking out. So much has been happening, so quickly, it doesn't seem real. Like two weeks ago, the fire. A few hours ago, Bridget. It's like there's no end."
He lay beside me. "It'll be okay. You have me -... Us. And you have a place to stay for as long as you need to. Things are crazy now. But it'll get better."
"You think?" I asked.
"I hope. I mean, you'll be a cousin soon, and Bee will have her baby in a while."
Yeah, I thought, but you still won't remember anything about us before New Year's. "Thanks."
"Hey," he smiled. "It's why I'm here."
We lay there for a while, moments going by and neither of us said anything. I stared up at the ceiling, thinking about nothing.
"We should get some food," he said.
I smiled. There's the real Niall I know. "Yeah. We should."
Later that night, I couldn't get to sleep. I tossed and turned. I was hot one minute, cold the next. Too tired to keep my eyes open, but I wouldn't let myself fall asleep.
I finally just gave up, and got out of bed. I pulled on a pair of jeans and a sweater, with some boots and a jacket.
It was eleven o'clock at night on a Friday, so it was busy downtown. The London nightlife was pushed to the most, and there I was with my ripped jeans and Steve Madden boots from Christmas.
I had left my phone in my room, so I could text Lilly. I immediately thought of her, partying downtown, dancing at some club, getting drunk and having the time of her life. But maybe she'd be someone to talk to. Although, it would be better to talk to her if she was sober.
Normally in movies, when a girl goes out on her own at night, the guys who loves her comes and comforts her. I know it's sounds weird, but it was kind of what I was waiting for.
But no one was there. No Niall. No one.
I stopped at a bar, hoping I'd see someone I knew. I ordered a drink. No one was there though. Well, no one I knew. The bar was packed full of people. None of them dangerously drunk, but some of them close to it.
An hour past, and I had had a few drinks. But no one walked into that bar I knew. The only person I was talking to was the bartender who was hitting on my every ten seconds. He walked over to me, and handed me another drink. "This ones on me," was all he said, and winked.
Harry's POV
Niall, Zayn and I all decided we'd go to a bar downtown. After all, it was a Friday, and we'd had a long week. Louis and Liam stayed home with their girls, so it was just us three.
Zayn and I had drank a little by the time eleven o'clock came around. But Niall hadn't said much. He's mind was one something. Or someone.
And that someone had walked into the bar about twenty minutes later.
We sat there watching her. Not in the 'stalker' kind of way. But a protective way. Niall was getting a wee bit jealous of the bartender. Well, maybe jealous wasn't the right word.
"We've been sitting here for ten minutes. She doesn't even know we're in here," Zayn said, a little bit later.
"Well? What can we go then?" I asked.
"Get her out of here, captain duh."
I glared at Zayn. "Yeah, but she's obviously drunk."
"So? You aren't. I'm not. Niall isn't. She's the only one. I can drive, so can you."
"Well, what if she passes out while we're trying to get her down the stairs, and then dies? Huh?"
Zayn rolled his eyes and got up from the table. Niall and I followed.
"Bella?" Zayn said, coming up behind her.
She turned right around. "Zayn. What are you doing here?"
The bartender was standing right behind her, pretending that he had nothing to do with this.
"We were hanging out, and you walked in."
"Oh," she giggled. "Cool. I was just walking around town, and I decided to stop in."
"Oh," I whispered to Zayn. "She's not drunk at all."
He looked at me, obviously not understanding the sarcasm. Then he turned back to Bella. "Well, we better get going. Come on, Bella."
"I don't wanna go," she pouted.
"I don't care, let's go."
Zayn walked on one side of Bella, me on the other, and Niall walked behind her. I'm sure he enjoyed that.
The wind and rain had started to pick up, and Bella stopped. She turned around. "Niall, you silly duck."
He looked at her. "Um, what?"
She laughed. "Let's dance."
Niall looked at Zayn and I. We both shrugged. "Let's go home, Bella," he said.
Bella's POV
I walked through the door. My vision was cloudy, and so was my mind. "Niall," I whispered. He walked up beside me.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Will you stay with me?"
He stayed silent for a moment. "Come on, lets get you to bed."
He put a hand on my back, guiding me and helping me up the stairs and to my room. "Get changed, I'll be back to check on you in a minute."
He shut the door. "I'm not a baby," I said to myself. I quickly pulled off my clothes, put them away, and slipped into an old t-shirt and shorts. Zayn didn't know what he was talking about. I didn't drink that much.
Niall came back in. I was lying on my bed. He pulled the blankets up to my chin, and lay beside me.
And he was the last thing I saw as I drifted off to sleep.
"You only got sick twice last night," Niall said at the dining room table the next morning. We were playing a card game, just me and him.
"Yeah, but I feel like shit now."
He laughed a little. "You're the one who drank last night."
I laughed a bit, then looked up at him. "Niall, do you remember me at all?"
He looked at me, and took my hand. "I remember what you look like."
"It's not funny," I said. "From now on, I'm not telling you anything about me. You have to remember it."
"You're favorite color is green," he smiled, hoping he'd make things better.
"No. It's blue, Ni." Tears formed in my eyes. "How can this happen to you?"
He got up, and knelt down beside me. "I'm fine. I will be. Don't worry about me, Bella. Worry about yourself. Silly duck."
I smiled a bit. "What?"
He shook his head and smiled. "Nothing."
I stared at him for a bit, then realized that I was probably making him uncomfortable, so I dragged my eyes away from him. "I should go."
I pushed my chair from the table, wiping my eyes.
"Where are you going?"
"Lilly said she'd meet me for lunch, at the new bistro place downtown. But I'll see you after."
I went upstairs, and shut my bedroom door.
Rain was pounding down. I stood quietly, and could hear it hitting the roof.
I peeled off my clothes, and jumped into the shower. I turned the water on cold, because my skin ached. The heat felt good, but the frozen tingling sensation felt better.
It was hard to keep my eyes open, that's how tired I was. My mind kept wandering off to different places.
I put my hair up after I got out of the shower, and pulled on a gray sweater and some jeans. I dried and brushed my hair, leaving it down.
Bee let me borrow a pair of her boots. I grabbed my bag and was about to head out the door. Then I turned. "Niall," I said softly.
"Yeah?" He said.
"Do you have any plans later tonight for dinner?" I asked, pulling the sleeves of my sweater over my wrists.
"Uh, no. Why? What's on your mind?" He replied, fiddling with his phone.
"Maybe we could go somewhere? Just the two of us?"
He looked up. "Okay. Yeah. That sounds fun."
I smiled. "I'll see you later."
Lilly's car pulled into the driveway as soon as I stepped out. "Good timing," she said."
I smiled. "Uh, thanks?"
She laughed. "Get in."
